Desperate times call for desperate actions..

Pete in MI

Not only is the price of gas a consideration but when 'the kid' has to be to work at 5 PM the van has to be home to take her to work. I was desperate to get out and do some detecting. OK I lied. I was desperate to get out away from animals, alergies and what not. So I called for 'backup' transportation and here is the transportation of choice...at the ball field Warthog and I have been detecting.

Going down hill was fun...til my hat blew off my head. Sudden stop going down hill is not recommended. I was desperate alright...the front tire of the bicycle was quite low but I wasn't going to waste time pumpng it up when I could be on the way to detecting some goodies.

Well the pickings were slim today. No money, no jewelry, about 3 pull tabs and some aluminum foil and the good stuff I did find was these:

A Remington 300 Savage shell casing and a live 22 Long Rifle round.

I kinda hoped that Sherry would see my note I left in the van that said "Gone Detecting at the .... ball field". I figured that maybe she would swing by after droppimg Casey off at work and come find me. I was not looking forward to the walk back up this hill:

Doesn't look too bad but you have to see what it says on the sign at the top of the hill: (Can't find a pic). It says "You are 100 feet above the lake". That is a sizeable hill to climb. Never seen anyone on a bicycle ride up this hill.

I decided to leave and go home so packed everything up. Oh yeah forgot to mention there is a house next to the area with a LOUD (I had headphones on too) yelling about staying away from his house, something not nice about his rotweiler he 'took for a walk' to 'impress me' I think.

Well got to the hill and started pushing the bike when Sherry called to ask where I was...seems she came to the filed where I had been and I was gone. Told her I'm walking up 'the hill'. She said to wait and she would be right there with the van. Wasn't looking forward to going up that hill anyway so Sherry came got me.

See desperate times require desperate measures sometimes.

Now, I would say you are a dedicated detectorist, who needed to get out and get his :detecting: fix! Glad Sherry could take you home and you didn't have to climb that hill and having to push a bike, too! :)

God Bless!

Shoot brother, if that's a hill what do you call a mountain??? Down here in Tennessee that is flat!! Just kidding with you Pete...those long inclines can be killers and I'd be pushing my bike too. I thought I would dust mine off last fall and get back into shape and that lasted about 3 days. But, it sure was fun going downhill though. Keep pedaling and be careful.
