Detect Chaser compared to ?

GroundScanner

Well-known member
Hi guys , I was wondering what the Detect Chaser metal detector compares to/ or as good as ? Can anyone give me any insight? Is it good for beaches , old home sights ? Or is it just another ok detector ? I’m asking because I can get a good deal on one with a 12x10 Sef and 7” ultimate coil. Thanks HH

Don't know a lot about it but you have to be careful.......what fequency is it running at.The original was 14 khz but i believe a couple of other versions came out with lower and higher fequencies, one at around 5 khz and one close to 30 khz.
The 14 khz would be great for most detecting scenario's as this frequency is a great allround frequency but the other two are a bit more specislist i would say.
I doubt it would be great on a beach.....dry sand yes but wet sand may cause it problems......hopefully somebody can give you some better info.

Not a very detailed video but looks like this could be in damp sand at the beach which would suggest it might be good there too......its hitting better than the 800 by the looks of it.🤔

Hey there,
I have 2 chasers, and all coils, and routinely use it. It is a very deep machine with pretty good separation. There's a US dealer selling new machines with the coils you mention for $400 new. There are a few things to know if you get it, and if you don't realize this you'll think it's broke.
1. All shallow targets (of any size) read "45" on the display, or "-45" if iron. As you wiggle up and raise the coil the real number becomes apparent. BUT, as you reach edge of detection targets tend to read a bit high. A 10" deep pull tab might read like zinc cent.
2. The volume control is not a volume control. At 0 volume you hear everything, but deep targets are soft, at 10 everything is full volume. You can choose anything in-between. I run about middle.
3. The programs are mostly the same with different levels of disc which you can change anyway. The "coin" mode allows more tones, but doesn't allow ground balance. I run "zero disc" program and on 2 tone setting dig high tones (non ferrous and tiny foil).
My machine is 14khz. I don't think the other frequency machines made it into production.
They don't like iron. I almost never dig a bottle cap.
I run 7" coil most of the time. The others work fine too. I just like small coils.
Holler if you get it and need a hand.
