was detecting in an old park & heading towards the sidewalk near the street. I stopped to dig a lousy penny & two little black girls got to the brand-new Susan B Anthony Dollar Coin lying on the sidewalk before I could get to it. Would have been there in another minute! There was a store closeby & they headed for it & I'm sure spent that $1.00 as fast as they could!
Oh well that's the way life goes!
Another time I was with the club group in another park & while detecting I found a Flintstone Coin Purse...the kind that opens when you squeeze its sides....& when I looked inside I thought I saw silver, so I headed towards a lady friend & had her look inside & asked her what she saw & she said lots of silver coins! An old man who detected the park a lot had lost it, and my friend was talking to him one time and he asked her if she had found it! She said no but Betty did! There were lots of dimes & one or two quarters the best I remember! Would know for sure if I could find where I put my large note book where I kept the information about my hunts! I do know I won a prize for the best find of the month at the next meeting!
Well, we lose some & we find some! I've lost screwdrivers, shovels, thrown coins away when emptying my apron (long ago), my former husband lost a long-handled showel by leaving it leaning against a tree & I also lost an ice pick once & hated that for I was afraid some child would find it!
Any more stories....I would like to hear about them!
God Bless!
