I've learned...
That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I was hunting with a few guys from my detecting club at a old park. The park had a few small hills and I was detecting in the valley between hills. I looked over by a side walk and saw what I thought was a 6" circle of saw dust. Must be thay cut down a tree. thats what it looked liks as the "saw dust" was at eye level for me hunting in this valley.I thought I'd check it out in a few munite after I was done where I was at. All of a sudden some other no good low life bottom of the barrel detecter guy was on top of the hill and saw some light colored sand next to the side walk. He had a different view being higher then me and went over and found "MY" Indian head penny that I was going to find in just a few munites.
I still cant believe Mike would do that to me. I mean I saw it first!!!!
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha
After that I start hunting 10" in frount of Mike for a while. Every time he would chande directions I would change mine

was detecting in an old park & heading towards the sidewalk near the street. I stopped to dig a lousy penny & two little black girls got to the brand-new Susan B Anthony Dollar Coin lying on the sidewalk before I could get to it. Would have been there in another minute! There was a store closeby & they headed for it & I'm sure spent that $1.00 as fast as they could!
Oh well that's the way life goes!
Another time I was with the club group in another park & while detecting I found a Flintstone Coin Purse...the kind that opens when you squeeze its sides....& when I looked inside I thought I saw silver, so I headed towards a lady friend & had her look inside & asked her what she saw & she said lots of silver coins! An old man who detected the park a lot had lost it, and my friend was talking to him one time and he asked her if she had found it! She said no but Betty did! There were lots of dimes & one or two quarters the best I remember! Would know for sure if I could find where I put my large note book where I kept the information about my hunts! I do know I won a prize for the best find of the month at the next meeting!
Well, we lose some & we find some! I've lost screwdrivers, shovels, thrown coins away when emptying my apron (long ago), my former husband lost a long-handled showel by leaving it leaning against a tree & I also lost an ice pick once & hated that for I was afraid some child would find it!
Any more stories....I would like to hear about them!
God Bless!
