Went yo a friends house yesterday, had a little time to kill and didn't want to drive to far. He's been after me to detect his yard. Wasn't there 5 min. and got a 53 rosie About 30 min later pulled out the token, first one of these I've seen. Alittle later pulled out the war nickel,It was a solid nickel sound &the cursor was where it was suppose to be, so I switched to numbers & it was a solid 10-6 On one of my posts someone said the ones they found hits more like a wheatie. This is my 4th one & they all have hit the same. Could my settings be different & make it sound different than his? Any ideas. Anyway I found the cut 53 rosie just before I left. The last 3 silver dimes I've found have been 53 d rosies. I'll be glad when corn is out so I can get back to my 1850 to 1935 fairgrounds. newest coin I've found there was a 1920 merc oldest was a 1838 dime. I've got 29 silver coins Including 2 Morgan dollars out of this place. Can't wait to take my 6x8 in there. HH everyone

Hey Stubbs,

That was me that said my last war nickel I dug sounded like a wheatie. In fact, I dug two more war nickels yesterday, and both of them sounded like wheaties too. It has a lot to do with the ground/fertilization conditions. When the manganese in the coin starts to leech out, the coin will take on a higher conductivity, creating more silver-like conductivities. It's really strange. All 4 war nickels from this one park have sounded like wheats, however, some of the war nickels I've dug from other parks were classic nickel tones. I probably have more war nickels that sound like wheats, however, because I had been ignoring most low tones while hunting for old silver/copper in my super trashy city parks.

Nice job on your silver!!
