Detecting in the Tampa Fla. Area ??

Hello folks I posted this same Question on the Beach and Water Forum and got 25 reads and not one reply.
I am going to be in the Tampa Fla. area from 1-24-05 thru 1-28-05. About 1.5 miles from Apollo Beach.
Does anybody know if the Beaches are open to detecting down there? I hope I can get some information as I would sure like to use my Exp while I am there.
Is there anybody in that area that would like to hook up and hunt, if so shoot me an email and we can make some arrangements.
Thanks in Advance

I always read those nice looking signs at the entrance - Do's and Don'ts. Anything that says "National" or Historic is off-limits. They will usually say "no Metal detecting" if that's the case.
Most of FL coast is fair game for MD'ing but they are always changing local Ordinances. You can always ask the township or local police or rangers.
Sanibel Island is right by Fort Myers. They get lots of wealthy tourists.
