Detecting next to chain link fence question

Hello everyone!

I have question regarding detecting with the ATPro. This is a new detector to me and I am still getting used to it. I had the ACE 250 and I found a lot of coins and some prior to 1900. It is true that the ATPro is better with depth as I am finding more stuff at 8 inches and also works better in trashy areas. I can determine if it is a can or coin.

Is there a way to get up close to a chain link fence wit out the detector sounding off? I detect sometimes at ball fields and I want to get close to the fence by the baseball field. As long as I am 6 inches or closer it will beep.

Should I put the sensitivity lower? Should I discriminate the number it beeps at? There is a possibility that I may miss more stuff if I do that. Is there anything else that I can consider or try?

Thank you for answering my questions!

Matt

The AT Pro is deeper, then the ACE 250 with the same coil in the same condition. Chain link fences can be a challenge. The easiest way to get closest, is to swing the coil parallel to the fence, use a smaller coil like the sniper coil and turn down the discrimination. Another trick is to push out the bottom of the fence with your foot, which can give you some more advantage.

I have found some excellent jewellery and old coins hunting along those fences. Good luck Matt!

All the information
John-Edmonton gave you applys, you can also lean your backside against the fence with your detector in front of you and search parallel with the fence with sens reduced.
The sniper coil is best against a fence line and around a tot lot.

My Pro is very sensitive even when I detune it.

The Super Sniper coil is the only way to effectively work the area right up to a fence, metal post, etc. Turning down the sensitivity can get you alittle closer BUT at the sacrifice of less depth. The Super Sniper coil is also awesome in super high trash areas where there are good targets and trash mixed together.

Deffinatley sniper coil I hunt around a lot of metal benches sniper works great
