Detector information

Can anyone give me information on the use of the Minelab GP Extreme or the Saxon X1 in the UK for inland ploughed sites. I want to use them for coinshooting mainly. I know the GP is a gold detector, but some have been used in this country for general searching I believe. Thanks, Dave

I think buying a minelab extreme is a bit extreme for general coin shooting,it is also very heavy, and i dont think you could justify the price of it for what you want to use it for,as you know it was designed for the gold fields,i think if i were buying a detector for coin shooting i would buy a good tesoro,or if you would like some thing a bit more interesting,go for a whites xlt.

Hi Davie,I have the Minelab SD2100 and I Have found gold nuggets with it here in Scotland.I have tried it for coin hunting in the fields and its a no no because it does not have enough discrimination.I now use a Tesoro Lobosupertrac for field and gold hunting.

Gordon-Thanks for your observations on the SD2100, do you know if the GP has better discrimination? I know this is strictly a PI site, but whats the Lobsupertrac like compared with the Explorer or Sov say (post me direct if you like). Well done on finding some gold I thought Gordon Brown had most of it, you're not....??!!! are you? Best wishes for Christmas and of course Hogmanay. Dave
