im thinking about taking a headhunter pulse apart and building it into a wetsuit.the idea is to keep my hands free. basicly, i want to take the windings out of the coil and somehow waterproof them and sew them into the chest of the suit. then add a vibrator to the electronics instead of the audible tone. then i could swim along the bottom and when i go over a signal, stop and dig it up. what do you think?

but if you find yourself scanning the same target in the same spot all day long, you should probaly move the vibrator to some other location.

am - you could try using a bonephone rather than the vibrator (might be less potentially shocking or at leastless distracting <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)"> )
PS there's one used on the aquapulse (designed by E.F.)http://www.aquascan.co.uk/aq1b.html

Hi David,
Are you snorkelling or diving with tanks? If you have tanks and a weightbelt then your scheme won't works as the metal will be too close. Even snorkelling, if your mask has a metal clamp for the glass, you would probably pick that up, as it forms a large ring.
Eric.

To my experience a coil integrated into a glove and the electronics box velcro taped to the upper arm works just fine.
A large glove with the coil in works like a paddle, makes fast digging.
A digging probe with a coil inside works fine in clay or other hard substrate.
Does anybody have experience in casting the electronics in silicone or polyurethane rubber instead of using a housing? It would make a very small unit, specially if surface mounts are used. (not for my eyes)
I have been looking for a vibrator that uses little power, like the ones in the cell phones, but where can I find that?
