Determining depth CZ21

raider rich

New member
Im going to purchase a CZ21 but have only used an MXT PRO. The screen would give me an idea on depth. How is depth determind useing theCZ21.

I would adjust the volume below 5 to deactivate the audio boost and take advantage of the modulated audio where the deeper tones are softer. After awhile you get a pretty good idea of which tones are the deep targets. I run mine on 4 and listen for that sweet soft repeatable tone. And a nice tight narrow pinpoint and then I dig!

Never bother with depth. I get a signal and I dig till I get it. Either with a scoop or with waving my hand.

I watched a friend hunt who had used one for over 10 years and he went by sound and lifting the coil to see when the signal faded out. He was VERY good at determining target ID and depth.

This answer probably seems common sense but I determine the approximate depth in the pin pointing mode. A real wide signal when pin pointing is a shallow target and a real tight target is a deeper target. When I am hunting in the hard pack wet sand and the pin point sound is a wide reading I simply skim the sand with my scoop and it is right near the top. A real tight signal I dig deep with my first scoop and try to keep the target from getting sucked down into the hole deeper.
