Deus 2 FMF 9 inch coil and icon remote frequencies

I purchased an icon remote. Not the icon x.
I paired it with my Deus 2 coil and have 3 selectable mono frequencies to choose from instead of the 2 that the stock coil options has.

The stock coil selectable mono frequencies for the icon are 4khz and 14khz

Paired with the FMF 9 inch Deus 2 coil it becomes 4.4khz, 17.6khz and 32khz.

I am well pleased with that.

I have emailed XP to ask them what the highest FMF frequency is while running in FMF mode and I will update this when I hear back.

So far it is a neat little remote. The remote is smaller than I thought it would be. The screen is not that much bigger than the Deus 2 while running the large numbers.

It hits everything in my test bed but not as good as my Deus 2 does.

I do like it though and I think it is a neat set up for parks and around old house sites and some relic hunting as well. I am not a beach guy so I cannot comment on that.

For average detecting though I think it will be a good unit.

Oldhouse sites, interesting. Can you explain in more detail?

Old house places, relic hunting in fields and parks I think it will be a great performing unit.

With detecting in places where there may be deeper targets at the edge of the icons ability the icon x with its enhanced audio settings should sound off louder on deeper signals but I cannot confirm this as I just have the icon remote and not the icon x remote.

It may perform better on deeper targets with the 11 inch coil that it comes with compared to the 9 inch I have it paired with but I cannot verify this either.

You will definitely have some better sounding deeper targets with the Deus 2 enhanced audio settings as I have noticed this in my test garden with my own Deus 2.

I noticed in the icon manual that the audio options available it does say enhanced on the icon x.

Thats about as best as I can explain it.

Also for those who have a set of non stereo first edition ws6 backphones the icon will pair with those with the 4.2 version firmware.

The only difference is when it is paired you do not have the option of speaker choices during the initial turn on. So you have to go into the menu to turn the icon volume off if you just want to use the back phones.

The WS 6 when paired to the icon will also turn off when you turn off the icon remote.

Also when the ws6 is paired with the icon remote without the icon being turned on acts as a normal Deus 2.

When icon control is paired to FMF coil.
Try the following.
Place dime on top of Nickle.
Go through the different Channels and sweep. Note ID.
Then pair Deus 2 control to FMF coil.
Go to 40 max band.
Sweep dime on top of nickel. Note ID.
I would almost bet you’ll see same ID between the 2 coils.
Now you can switch when paired using Deus 2 control to both FMF and icon coil.
Repeat. Run Deus 2 control and pair each the FMF coil and check and pair icon coil and check.
And run Deus 2 controller to 24 max band and check the different bands.
ID likely to read higher. Why? Lower being used.

PS.
When you change channels (noise cancel channels ) expect to see some ID change.
This goes for using the 40 max band as welllmas the 24 max band.
Does icon have a 24 max band? You’ll find out if you do the above using the clad dime on top of nickel.

Now, if you have hf2 using with icon control. I believe there is a freq difference.. meaning beach program runs lower freq than land.
Again doing the dime on top of nickle will expose this.

You may be wondering how I know all this. Remember I don’t have an icon control or icon coin.
Well, a few quick over the phone tests with a friend I suggested him to do. Revealed some things. Again using the clad dime placed on top of nickel.
