Deus at the beach

Xp doberman

New member
Has anybody had any success using their DEUS in the surf at the beach,I've enjoyed some recent success in the river swimming holes ,trying to decide if I need to by a different machine for the beach

The Deus may have a wet beach mode but most single freq VLF machines struggle, they will never be happy performing on the wet sand or in the surf, they perform fine in fresh water but salt water is a different ball game. You may get it to work of a fashion by dropping the settings down but you will have little chance of taming it i fel.

It may offer multi freq's but only one at a time, machines like say Minelab or Whites that have the abilty to have multi freq's at the same time they work fine, but i am afraid the Deus bottom line is not a very good beach machine.

I've had good luck with mine in the wet sand. I have had my Deus since December and have found nine pieces of gold in the wet sand with it. Is it noisy, yes it is. I’ve had good luck with mine hunting in the wet sand. Is it noisy in the wet salt sand, yes. Does it work, yes very well and once you get used to it there is no problem hearing the good targets. I have been a long time Fisher CZ user but since getting the Deus and playing with it a little I haven’t even turned the CZ on. The only problem is that you lose the wireless coil signal when the coil goes under water.
My long time handle says Jupiter, Fl. But I do most of my hunting here in NC. I have found nine pieces of gold with the Deus on a not usually so productive beach. I don’t remember what my wet sand program settings are but I took the standard wet sand program changed the frequency to 12, and bumped up the sensitivity a little. It even does well in heavy black sand but when hunting in black sand you have to watch out because it will hit on the hole so you have to scan the pile instead of the hole to see if you have the target out of the hole. Try playing with the program and see what works in your area.

Thanks Gary I''m actually going to the outer banks, found a platinum ring and a little clad last year. I have the antenna set up this year but still thinking about buying dedicated water machine
