Deus ground balance help?

Hi all, I have a new deus and I can not get it to gb using the pumping method. I have tried it in numerous places on my property and it always reads "gb fail". My soil is mild here and my atpro gbs at 80 pretty much everywhere on my property. I am curious if anyone has the same issue as I am really hoping I didnt get a defective unit that I will have to send in and wait to get back. I have the 11" and 9" coils and it does not matter which one is on it, I still get the same result.

I am sure you know this but make sure the shaft is extended, and coil above ground, away from metal when turning on unit....When ready to pump, start with coil on ground and pump till a value is given....

Sure would hate to think it was a bad unit........

If all else fails call the dealer.

Jim

Thanks for the reply jim. I do exactly that. I hold the coil up about waist high when powering up with it extended ready for use. I have tried it at least 30 times in different areas of my property and only once has it said gb ok. I even reloaded 3.2 on it hoping it was just a glitch but still have the same issue. I know I can do manual or tracking but it sure doesnt make me feel confident in the unit with it not working In pumping mode.

Not sure where you bought it, but I would call them and/or XPAmerica.....

I am like you, I want perfect working order......

First, take off your coil cover and clean both the coil and cover thoroughly. Try balancing without the cover; if successful, replace cover and try again.

The pump motion pace is fairly quick (move up off the ground about 6-8 inches and then back down all the way to the ground a couple of times per second keeping the coil parallel to the ground).

Have you tried finding a clear area with no iron or other trash to GB on? No powerlines overhead/underground fences?

Do you hear any sounds coming from the remote or headphones when you're pumping? If so, change spots. In fact, just bounce around randomly until you get GB success.

Let us know how it goes...if none of this works, I'm with Jim, contact your dealer/XP...GB should not be that difficult. Good luck!

Hey beep, tried that even though everything is brand new so the coils havent had the opportunity to get dirty. I am going to take it with me to work tomorrow and see if it will gb there. I don't think it will though as I live in the country and not a lot to cause interference unless a power line maybe 1000 yards away could be causing it. I have had quite a few machines and never once have I had any problem ground balancing them at my property and that includes an f75 ltd which I think are pretty well known for being susceptible to emi... Kinda getting irritated at the moment as I bought it about a month ago but never had time to get it out until last night as I had been busy with other things in life...

Hmm, so no factory paper or anything else between the coil and cover? The charging clip is off?

Anyway, if you can't get it to work at work, I'd definitely be calling XP. I know this is a pain, but once you get it resolved, you won't be sorry. Good luck!

One more thought...I spoke with XP this morning and the guy I talked to says if your sens is too high, you'll have difficulty with pumping to GB. I haven't seen this myself as I usually run sens between 80 and 90 (rarely 90 in my area). Maybe set your sens to 80 then try to pump GB. If that works, then use a custom program with lower sens when you startup the remote to do your GB. After GB then you can increase sens as needed.

hey again beep, thanks for taking the time! I got to work this morning and tried it in 6 different areas. It grabbed perfect every time! I must have some emi going on at my property or something....

Great news! Then you know it's not broke! So at home you can manually balance without thinking something is wrong with your machine. I would definitely try to reduce sens (and maybe TX if you're not in 4K) at home to see if you can get around any interference.

Congrats and looking forward to seeing your finds!

LOL One can be hopeful right?

Glad all is well,

Jim

Lol! I wish jim! I also want to just let everyone know how great xp is. I called after hours last night and left a message at detector electronics. I had a call back from mow first thing this morning ready to help. It seems to be pretty rare these days to get such quick service and I want to applaud them for it!

I manually geb my unit on the 9".

I can have sens maxed at 99 and tune geb value manually for no falsing, then nudge geb a few clicks higher.

It settles down at about 75, I run it about 80 on my moderate to low mineralised soil.

Sens in use about 85 - 90

Interesting, maybe it's something else or a combination of variables...I'd still like to know the results if he lowers sens though.

I have area within 12feet of my house where the deus chatters like crazy, I would need sens about 60 to silence.

30 feet away I can get away with about 93 sens
