Another nice video, is the program you were using one you care to share or have shared previously, sounds alot like the sifter one. really starting to like the full tones.

it is the sifter. sens 86 tx1,reativity 3,silencer-1,disc 0,12 kh,audio respon 4,iron vol 0, notch 0. It will pick them out! I believe it will hit a coin up to 8 inches but you got to remember the audio will be way different on a deep coin.

I watched your video and thought it was interesting. I could not tell from your comments what program you were running on the CTX, so that makes it difficult for me to comment on what it was saying. It would have been nice if you had someone as experienced in the CTX as you are in the Deus to interpret what it was saying. I generally run a Combined setup in Ferrous coin with no discrimination and iron set at 25 on the first screen, on the second I run just a bit of descrim at top and bottom to notch out nails occasionally. You are correct it is a tone machine like the Deus using ID as a secondary information point. I have very rarely though not gotten a target ID normally a quarter turn on a target that gives a good tone will produce a target id. I did not always understand when you were giving the ID on the CTX I heard you say I believe "a 37 then 44" I did not catch any reference to a ferrous number...you may have said it and I might have missed it. It would also be interesting to do the test in reverse letting the CTX, in the hands of an experienced Minelab guy pick some targets and then you test them with the Deus. I believe the Deus to be a very refined machine and may in the future own one the lightness is very appealing. I did borrow one for a day and used it in a couple of fields which had been hunted with CTX and E-Trac I wanted to see how it's fast recovery speed would do in the heavy iron, in one field I did get a Large
Cent with it but to be honest it was in a spot that the corn stalks had gotten knocked down more since we had hunted it with the Minelabs so I think it was a case of just getting the coil over it....I think my old ACE 250 would have gotten it with no trouble. Went to another field and did not dig any keepers just a few iffy signals that turned out to be small bits of brass but I was digging every repeatable signal there just to check it out. I was not able to leave any comments on the video since the comments were disabled. I have seen your other Deus videos and must admit it is an awesome tool in your hands.

If I get to keep it long enough I might try to find someone who is capable with it and shoot another video. I will say this you see how the deus performs in my videos it weighs 2 lbs for that reason alone its worth having. The other one weighs 5.2 lbs what performance boost can I find to justify swinging a machine that weighs twice as much. better target id? thats not enough for me. I have been talking with a man who is versed with it and in his testing he came up with the same results it would be nice to get it on video.

Yes it is definitely lighter though the CTX has decent balance at almost 73 years I can swing it for 4 hours with no problem normally, but do wish it would be lighter. I am on the other end I know Minelabs pretty well though I would never claim to be a "expert" , I used the E-Trac 3 + years and have nearly 3 years with CTX but when I used the Deus I had no knowledge of how to make reasonable changes on the fly. I just listened to the tones and transferred what my brain knew to what I was hearing. I was happy to say I think I did ok with it.

just like that minelab the deus has to be set up correctly for the application your doing or you wont get the full performance out of it. I will agree it is well balanced but at the end of the day 5.5 pounds is still 5.5 pounds no matter how well its balanced and 5.5 pounds is heavy. Do you still have the deus?

No I do not, I only had it for one day, the settings used were ones suggested by my friend CTTodd who uses both machines and does well with both. The settings on the machine I borrowed had a setting virtually the same as Todd's so I went with it. cant post them here againest forum rules . CT Todds hunting style I believe is different from mine if I read him correctly. I believe CT TODD uses discrim in the relic programs correct me if im wrong. The highest discrim setting I use is 1 its on my deep relic program and its for knocking out ground noise. CT Todd is a great hunter and his finds are killer from what ive seen. nice post on the deus ,it will pick through the trash but it takes a little time to get a handle on it just like any other machine. The thing is you can change it from a heavy iron machine to a deep seeking beast in a push of the button if you have the programs loaded up.

XP Deus

I'm getting a lot of requests for my XP Deus program. So here it is.
This is a very deep and stable program that does very well on USA coin sized targets in moderate trash. Good luck with it and tell me how you make out.

Frequency 8

Iron Volume 2
Reactivity 1 or 2 watch sweep speed. Mostly 1 set program at 1
Silencer 0
Sensitivity 88-93 mostly 90-93
Set program at 93
TX power 3 Mostly 3 but if things get chatty go to 2 Set at 3
4 Tones personal choices on break points
Audio Response 3
GB Manual use Tracking to get a reading then switch to manual
Notch 8-35 98-99
Ground Notch 70-90

Things to remember
When you move the Reactivity
It will change the silencer setting.

Tracking is a nice lazy GB setting. To get the most out of your unit use manual GB and pay attention to it. Using a + or - bias on GB can help. All ground is different. Find your way.

 

[CT Todd]

All of my settings are in the CTX book by Andy. But just the basics are this.I hunt a CTX with a wide open screen I. E. no discrimination at all in the 1st screen. I hunt with a small bit of discrim on the 2nd screen and that is along the top of the screen to cut down on wrap around high tone chirps from iron.
I hunt in auto +3 almost all the time. I noise cancel over a quiet spot in the ground at each hunt site and sometimes more than once. I have never manually ground balanced a CTX.
I do use all five sound bins with iron being just a grunt lowest setting. I have a barely audible threshold tone.I walk an area listening to the iron grunt grunt grunt.
if there's no iron there is no life. My settings work for me for a couple of reasons. #1 I don't hunt public parks or ball fields, so much less modern trash to deal with. Please hear me I'm NOT picking on guys that hunt those places. I'm just acknowledging that they can be tough to hunt with any machine. I am a hard core coin shooter but they have to be old.

I hunt both units CTX and Deus and they are fine units no question. But each has its places where it shines. The XP Deus is the fastest thing out there and in the nail bed next to a cellar hole its the right machine to have. Long days in wide open fields the Deus is a pleasure. A Detectorist getting older and still wants a top machine the Deus @ 2.2 Lbs is the way to go.

The CTX is a great relic machine. The CTX is a great beach machine. You will dig less Iron with a CTX and target ID is very good with a CTX not as good as an Etrac but very good. The CTX is a tough reliable turn on and go unit.

Lastly If your hunting old places like I do and your bothering to check TID before you dig your wasting time and if your passing on some of them because of the TID numbers then why are you there? You need to be digging all positive targets you come across its just part of the deal guys.

Yes Todd has been a big help to me and basically the way he described the way he uses his CTX is the way I have used it from the got go and similarly the way I used the E-Tra. I am primarily a field Hunter and old standing houses. Occasionally we hunt a couple of old parks but not often. I feel with Todd's tutelage and what I have learned from your excellent posts and videos Calabash when I get my Deus I will be prepared to make a good start, Thanks!

My buddy runs a ctx and we compare signals all the time. The one thing he loves is when he gets a really deep signal and asked me to check it. I swing it from 4 sides and tells him it's junk. He digs it anyways to check but he is amazed on how I can sniff out good signals or bad
