Deus locates an iPhone 6

Got a call from a fellow detectorist to see if I wanted to help him search for a pair of rings that had been lost by a couple travelling on the interstate. The wife was in the passenger seat and was putting on lotion when their child got sick in the back seat. They pulled onto the shoulder and without even thinking, she jumped out and opened the back door. When she had gotten out, the rings flew into the grass on the side of the highway.

Well, she knew ABOUT where they had pulled over but rings are small and the grass was tall . . . . so it would be a challenge.

We conducted a search along about 200 feet of interstate (nice secure feeling standing there as traffic was flying past at Warp Factor 9 :yikes:) and went in about 6 feet from the shoulder edge. The grass was pretty high which made close search tough and it was amazing at how much trash there was - everything from crushed cans to cigarette packs, juice packs, miscellaneous metal and other stuff.

This the area we were hunting . . . .

And this shows just how high the coil was above the ground due to the grass . .

A point I wanted to bring up for those that might question the sensitivity and detection depth of the Deus, these items were recovered with the 9" coil . . . . good signals and then used the Garrett ProPointer to find them . . . . as you can see, some were pretyy darn small especiallly considering the height of the grass

And what about the iPhone 6 . . . . well, I did find a cell phone along with a license plate . . .

Makes you wonder what's been lost alongside the side of the interstates across this country no?

Unfortunately we did not find the rings but will be back when the cold weather arrives and kills off the grass to make hunting easier.

Just remember . . . stopping to hunt this area without permission (which we had) is likely to get you an interesting discussion with the State Police . . . .

Thanks for looking

Andy

2007 called... And wants its cellphone back lol. Yea roadside hunting is the pits. Hope you guys can find them when the grass is lower.

I often think about hunting some areas next to the highway where houses stood before the state bought the land but I am way more afraid of the people driving by than of the Highway Patrol. LOL!
