Deus on the beach

Flintstone

Well-known member
I just got back from Cocoa Beach Fl. " I know I should of stayed " . Well the beach had been picked clean, and still seen three other guys detecting. Lot of trash so I knew that there had to be something there because of all the trash. If you don't did pull tab and foil you miss good targets. I have only had my Deus for just over a mouth. Started in Dry Beach mode, and was getting trash, I though well this trip will be no good. After about 30 mins. I went to the wet sand and the Deus went nuts, I though what is this thing doing. Then I I think I need to be in WET BEACH, so put it in Wet beach and It got so quite that I had to put my scoop over the coil to see if it was on.I stayed in the wet for about 30mins. and didn't get a hit, it was clean. Went back to Dry Beach and though I would try to find some small gold. I put the Deus in Gold Field and stared to hunt, it was picking up very small foil, little rusted wire from sparklers. I had to use my hand pinpointer to find the small wire. Then at towel line I got a hit that had a better sound and I dig about 4" and it was out of the hole, had to use to my pin pointer, and it was a small gold ear ring with a small stone. I though if there is one there must be more. I got two of those ear rings one stone is a little bigger than the other, I will test when I get a chance. Don't let anyone tell you the Deus won't hunt the beach. If anyone lives in small gold country this is the detector you need to get that small gold, never seen a detector get small things like that. Now I can't wait till Spring Brake starts. I think I will move to the beach for about 3 Mos. Sorry I went on so, but I am very happy with the Deus, at first I was thanking that it cost to much for a detector. I am glad I got it now, I know it is very good detector. flintstone

Great Post Mate!

I too am using the goldfield program more and more at the beach especially in wet sand.
Used that setting today out in the middle of nowhere as well just for Fun and found a coin in a spot I never thought there would be a coin.

Happy Hunting at spring Break.

My Garrett Pro-pointer will not hit on some of the tiny targets the Deus will hit on. I often give up on them when I figure out how small they probably are.

Hi Clegy, If you find a big open field or a play field that has been hunted hard and don't have much trash, the Gold Field on the Deus works fantastic . It will get all those small gold targets that most detectors can't hit. Try some small ear ring back , the little part that keeps the stud on.

Hi Neal, yes some of the small things the pointer will not hit, but if you just use the tip of the pointer and touch the target, sometimes it will go off. I had a lot like that and just used the tip after it was out of the hole.

Cheers mate, I will do that for sure. I am heading into gold country in a month can't wait to try the program out there too.

It's really depends on location. The heavy mineralized, saltwater beaches on the west coast USA are a real challenge. I love my deus in the dirt but PI and FBS/BBS machines are the way go on the beaches here!

Hi Andy. I couldn't wait for V4 and new coil. So Cal beaches have been pounded by heavy surf and El Niño. Upper beaches littered with trash and iron so PI was out. Guys with other machines digging old coins and I am digging junk targets. No matter what I tried with the Deus, it just wouldn't stabilize with any depth. Picked up the CTX and have done well on 4 hunts. I have your book for the Deus and your CTX book is on the way. Very helpful! On a side not...there is one beach I hunt here where my recommended sensitivity drops to 3-5 on CTX, just to give you an idea of what I am dealing with.
