I've been trying to use my Deus more instead of my trusty Explorer and G2. Yesterday I had a moment of worry when my machine just started chattering in the middle of the hunt. It was just like real heavy EMI but I was out in the middle of nowhere. I turned off my cellphone, still chattering. Looked to see if I had accidentally changed a setting, nope. After about 5 minutes of swinging this way I saw something fall off my coil, it was a small suspender buckle that I must have dropped. That little buckle rode that coil for 5 minutes and how it didn't get pushed off by all the tall grass I can't say but that was the problem right there. LOL.
I had success in a yard I've hunted with the Explorer 4 or 5 times. I tried the Deus there Saturday using Deus Fast setting. Among all the deep and shallow low conductors I got several nice quiet higher conductors that were obviously deep by the softness of the tone. In the picture you see what was found: a seated quarter turned into a love token/pin, an 1860 fatty indian and an 1898 Barber dime. Also dug a couple of wheats and a 1930's Roosevelt Business and Professional League lapel pin in good shape that I forgot to photograph.
My plan is to try some hammered parks that used to turn up oldies but have all but dried up. The Deus Fast setting has been my most successful thus far. Do any of you use Deus Fast very much?
