Deus runs wild in new water spot

I decided to hit a new freshwater spot I've been looking at for several weeks. After finding target after target, it seems to not have been detected. I only hunted for 3 hours ...but will return to spend an entire day there. No gold but still found silver and some misc cosmetic stuff. I was in waist deep water and used XY screen. Can't wait to return.......

The XP Deus has just been an awesome freshwater hunter and just keeps impressing everytime.

Thanks for posting. Being in Michigan, I'm strictly a freshwater hunter. I have not tried the Deus in the water yet. How is the buoyancy, swing, etc...?

Looks like you have a great spot! Hope to see you pull some gold out...

You're using the XY screen by itself plus the tones or do you toggle b/t your program and the screen? Either way, fantastic finds!

NICE! Kinda reminds me of my spot in Kentucky a couple years back. Keeper after keeper kept on coming. Never had that happen at any other spots!
THere is more in there now go and get it!

nice finds  , I am thinking about the deus and saw and heard it needed an antenna for under water use, are you using one in the fresh water? if not would you think it would work better with one or is it mostly for salt. dfly

The water kit is a must if coil is submerged. Fresh or Salt water. Thats the only way the coil can communicate with remote and headphones.

Hey there Lake Hunter, nice finds. Glad to see the Deus is working good in the water. Im seriously looking into the Deus for strictly this kind of work; water relics. What kind of target depth do you normally get out in the water? Steve

Steve.....

In the water its hard to put a certain depth on targets because in waist deep water I count the scoops to give me an idea. Alot of places I hunt have gravel and clay bottoms about 6 inches down, so dont need alot of depth. But when I hunt rivers...it can be 1-2 feet down before you hit hard bottom. In those rivers I have dug targets 4-6 scoops down.

Hope that helps....

I always use tracking in XY screen.
I truly recommend manually setting your GB versus the tracking g mode. When in tracking the machine will read a target the first few passes and then boom it's gone. This is because the deus recalibrated the GB. You will miss targets. I offer this as real tried and true experience. Take it or leave it.
Good luck friend of the field. Tip top on getting some of the good stuff.

I can't agree or disagree with what you stated...I haven't had that happen to me yet. For me a couple passes is all I need before I scoop it out. Usually right after first pass I have a good idea where to already scoop. The Deus is that precise with first pass. If you want to not miss any targets, you can't sweep fast in water anyway.

What happens if you have to dunk your head under to get a target when water hunting? Are there waterproof headphones that you can dive with for the Deus? Thanks, -MIke
