Deutschmarks sound like nickles!

I hit a nearby totlot that is usually good for a few bucks, with gas at 4, I figured it was a good place to start.
Got this signal, solid nickle, kicked the chips and grabbed what looked like a Quarter in the pre-dawn light, thought, whats wrong with my machine?
Well, its a 1974 Deutschmark, got a 2000 Sac dollar coin here too, That dirty quarter was an honest 5" deep, running 55 sens and a -3 thresh, F70 w/11"dd in wet icy chips. I tell you, running that low sens is pretty perfect for sweeping a totlot fast, you will even pick up the little foil, and most certainly will not miss a ring. I was out of there hands frozen up in 30 minutes..hope y'all survived that big wind yesterday.

Good effort, mud. I don't know about Deutschmark coins sounding like nickels, but I can attest that there are quite a few other targets that do.:angry:HH jim tn

I'm looking out at a half a foot of heavy snow this am...Last year, I just wrapped the coil in a plastic bag and went swinging...Those totlots seem to have an abundance of foreign coins, who knows what will come out of the pockets of a kid? Hey Estilldigger, I run these setting nearly all the time, sometimes I push up on the sens if there is not a lot of trash around, and there may be deep silver. I've been using DP tones, but I can see the logic of using 3H or 4H even. Seems the less sens, the better at weeding through masked targets, spills, stacks, big iron poles closeby. Very comfortable hunting. 1 disc, DE mode, 55sens, -3thresh, DP tones, 1 Notch. It will still find little rivets, and whatnot, so you dont have to worry about missing anything in a totlot. On the beach I'll run in AT, swing a big swath, and grab nearly everything.

1 mark, 5 mark, 50 pfennig, all hit as nickle's. Grats on finding some German coinage!
