Did a little hunting today... found some interesting stuff.

After working 8 straight days of 10 to 12 hour days, I decided to take today off. I went to a State park in the first part of the morning with nothing much to show. So, I went to the park Mike and I hit last weekend. It's pretty big with lots of trails and small clearings in the brush. What's interesting is that we're both pretty sure there must have been some movement of people / supplies from the water up through this area.

Lot's of bramble and thorn bushes. Tough to get through some spots let alone figure out how to get out However, I did manage to find an area, further south from where Mike and I hunted, that was clear enough to swing a coil. There's basically NO trash at all. My first target was this button. Anybody know anything about buttons? I'm curious to know how old it might be... Could it be colonial? It's about the size of a quarter.

Here's a neat spike... How'd it get bent like that? It's about 6" or so long.

Then I hit a nice silver hit... It was under a bunch of roots and, when I finally got to it, it was wedged between the roots and some rocks. I guess that's how it got scratched. I was thinking, "make this baby REALLY old!" as I pulled it out by the rim A 42 Washington. Not what I hoped for but silver all the same.

After digging the small bullet, I walked a distance and hit another text book silver hit. I reached for my digger, and to my dismay, it was gone! ARgggghhhh!!!!!! I looked all over the place and couldn't find it. I ended up going home.

A couple of hours later, armed with my Lesche, I went to another park and found this little silver ring:

The first thingy looks like it would fit the hand and thumb - as if it as used to turn something - a crank perhaps. The thingy with the knurled end and neat designs makes me think it screwed onto something...maybe like a screw that hold a shade onto a lamp???

The 3rd thing - from a car..looks old maybe a DeSoto...not the car but from the Explorer himself...a crest??? Looks like ya found a good hunting area..bet if ya go back you might even find a digging tool.

Sorry ya lost the tool Joe. I have one like it and it is a good tool.

Congrats on the silver Joe. I have been thinking of taking along pruning shears to cut roots with. Sawing them with a digging tool is a lot of work. Good pair of shears would probably work quicker but just one more thing to carry.
