Didn't find much, some clad and a ring, but I have something to bitch about..

Was on the way to the store at 5 PM so time was limited. Stopped at the school up the street from my house and hit the playground. First thing that greeted me was a mass of big gaping holes in the playground. What kind of simple minded ass would do this. Kids could come running in there, not paying attention, and step into one of those holes and break a leg or an ankle, or be thrown into the metal equipment and suffer serious injury. Some of these holes were a foot deep and nearly that in diameter. Had to be a newbie as I recovered two coins in two holes that he couldn't find. One was laying right in the dirt at the edge of the hole, a quarter with the edge sticking out. Talk about dumb. Then I found a dime in another hole just laying in the side of the hole. People like this should never be allowed to own a detector..I'd like to take a club up aside his head and hammer some sense into it

I found the other stuff and the little ring in areas this boob didn't have sense enough to hunt. Stuff like this really pizzes me off. Rant over.

Bill.

What a jerk. I have a guy like that around me too. Haven't seen him this year, thankfully. I was tired of fixing his holes. I think guys like him finally give up because they don't find much and they spend a lot of time recovering junk or missing the target all together. My best find I recovered following my boob around was an old 5 gram 22k ring. I really wanted to shove it in his face but didn't because I didn't want to inspire him to get better. Those are the guys who ruin it for the rest of us.

Rant over here too.

Chris

Whats the ring made of?

I think everyone has one . I just hope they quit before they do to much damage.

I've come across that too ... disgusting ... hopefully they will give up or move on ...:veryangry:

Yep, I know what you're talking about Bill. There are times I have to fill in holes
before I even dig any. Hopefully these turkeys put their detector in the closet
and leave it there. Best place for it for guys like this. Cute little ring you found.
That must be your reward. Good rant by the way. HH Gene

Just food for thought, it could be a dog! I was tectin at the park one day and saw what I thought was someone elses hole's at the playground and was going over to investigate and fix when I saw it. A small white dog on a leash at the far end of the play ground and it was digging in the mulch for all it was worth! The owner attached at the other end of the leash seemed totally oblivious to what her dog was doing to the playground!:garrett::usaa:

Im kinda bad about putting people on the spot about the holes they dig..If one of my buds or some stranger ruins it for me ...I hope i dont run into them.I rib on my pals on purpose to keep them thinking about doing clean work.I met a guy in the begining of the year who was metal detecting the park i was at..We talk for a few min and i made a point to say how people who dig and dont use a drop cloth and treat the area with no respect really P me off..I think i made him nervous..Hehe.I really dont care.People need to treat public areas(any areas for that matter) better than they would treat ther own property..Maybe the problem with some folks is they dont even treat ther own property with respect and pride.Tough to get someone like that to care about the hole they dig.Thx for filling in his mess...That makes it better for ALL of us in the long run.Just a shame you had to take your free time to clean up his mess.Good luck and Good Diggin....HH

Yeah I've filled in a lot of holes over the years - some at one park that were two feet in diameter. Have no idea what that idiot was digging for.

Nice hunt, buddy!:thumbup:Sorry to see about that jerk leaving holes uncovered. I hate to see people doing that. I've actually yelled at guys about not filling their holes and how that ruins the hobby for eveyone. I've got a short fuse, though. I guess, all you can do is fill in the holes that they have left(which we've done over and over again, many times) and explain to guys when you see it being done.
Perhaps there should be some licensing required for metal detecting, like fishing. With a certification course given to apply for the license. Or is that too"big brotherish"? Anyway....................Happy Hunting!:)

The ring is 10 KT white gold. Bet the jerk would really be unhappy knowing he missed that one. But when he misses a quarter staring him right in the face how could he locate something this small. :)

Bill

Congrats on a fine looking ring. Hope that person gets a lecture soon on leaving big holes. He just might ruin it for others.....

Wouldn't you just love to find these people doing this you know catching them in the act! Man I sure would!

Dig a six foot hole and bury their A-- and cover the hole nice and neat like!

I am with you UW

I go to local public parks early in the morning and that is about the time the workers dump the trash and pick up the big stuff on the ground. I try to befriend them and make small talk about them cleaning the top and I will clean the trash under the ground... That way they see my way of working the area and how I cover up and remove all objects I find..I figure at least I have them to vouch for me if an issue comes up in my area...Of course not every place has people there all the time and some of them are not the friendliest... But I have to admit they know where the people are at when I'm not. They can give great advise..I have not had to much trouble with big holes and I hope I don't in my area... But my big thing is off the subject is people parking in handicap parking.. I have a daughter 17 with C.P. and the use of only her left arm and hand.. We only use our placard when needed for her... I bet we have called in and left more notes to people parked illegally than anyone... The police told us to even block them in until they arrive.. But I told my wife not to take the chance of road rage. Just get there number...Sorry but had to get that off my chest..I started to tell a couple of stories you would not believe but I won't....I GOTTA REMEMBER WHAT FORUM I AM IN... SORRY SORRY SORRY
