Difference in 705 and705 gold

I currently have a Etrac which I love but I also live in good prospecting country. I am just starting to research minelab detectors and the 705 looks to fit the bill for a prospecting detector and a backup to my Etrac . My question is what is the difference between the 705 gold and just the 705 ? I am also looking at the ATGold but after owning a A T Pro I am not that impressed but I think the Etrac has spoiled me. Also , what would be a good price for a used 705 gold ? Thanks in advance.

The ONLY difference is the coil that it comes with.
The standard 705 comes stock with a 9" 7.5kHz concentric coil, and the Gold Pack version has a 5x10" 18.75kHz eliptical DD.

So the 18.75 coil is used for prospecting and the 7.5 used for general detecting? Or can you use the 7.5 also for prospecting? Sorry, but do not know much about the 705's. I did download the ebook but have not had the chance to read yet.

Correct. Low frequencies get a better response from high conductors like silver, copper, & brass, while higher frequencies are preferred for low conductors like gold, lead, & pewter.

I highly recommend reading not only the e-book, but taking a gander at the FAQFAQ pinned thread on this forum.

FYI......the 705 Dual Pack comes with both the 9" 7.5kHz concentric and the 5x10" 18.75kHz elliptical DD coils.

The Gold coil 5x10" 18.75kHz elliptical DD coil, is not waterproof it is water resistant. So if you want to hunt some stream with the coil under water looking for nuggets forget it. However they also offer a 6" - 18.75 that is water proof.
