Digger Coil

Hello everyone.

I have not posted for awhile so I thought I'd do one today. I couldn't take it any longer, took the plunge and bought the digger coil. I was a little apprehensive because their not exactly cheap. I've used it on two hunts now and boy am I clad I bought this coil. The park I went to is one I've not hunted before and it is loaded with junk and this little coil worked great. I'm no expert but the depth for a 6" coil seemed excellent. I took the advice from the people on the forum and forced myself to go slow, that and a little lower sensitivity setting worked great. Found a bunch of clad a silver ring and one junk ring. Seemed to hit a bit deeper on the dimes but did real well on coins in general. Been using the 10.5" MF up till now but this little coil is going to make a great companion.

I like the Digger coil too !! It's really great for curb strips or other areas where a big coil would be hard to maneuver. I went to an area last night though that I couldn't get it to quiten down with the sens that I usually run. I lowered it down and it eventually got stable but felt that I was probably losing depth. I switched over to the 5X10 and had no problems with sens at 29. Guess there was something that was just interferring with the 3IKhz coil.

Prior to getting the digger coil I mostly used the 10.5 MF coil and I could run the sensitivity up around 27 or 28 easy enough but with the ground around here the digger coil seems to run more stable with a bit lower sensitivity.

I have run sensitivity at 18 and still get depth of 8" so don't think that if you can't run at 26 or 28 that you are loosing depth, just lower it until it is stable and you will be fine. All this with the 10 x 5 DD coil.
