Diggers...did anyone else catch the mistake?

Just finished watching tonights second episode on the Peshtigo Fire. KG pulled out a beautiful silver three-cent piece. The problem is that it was an 1868 nickel three-cent piece, 75% copper and 25% nickel. No way it comes out of the ground looking like that! I know the show is for entertainment purposes, but things like that really aggravate me. Planted finds and the their antics are too over the top for me. Back to good ol YouTube videos for me!

I happened to catch that also. I never watch the show but there was nothing else on so I did. What a pair, plus with all the people around you would of had fifty kids running to the hole. It's now on my list of things not to watch again.

Yeah that's pretty pathetic! I thought the show had gotten better with time but I think it's sad to have to plant finds. It's very deceiving and it really struck a nerve with me! Just a way to get attention and 90% of their audience won't have a clue that it was planted unfortunately. I'm done watching as well. I'll stick with watching detectorist that work hard doing their research and make incredible finds with out all the drama a lies.

I am not a big fan of the show. Mostly the yelling and somersaults annoy me But They have said in interviews that is not planted finds and I think that we should be very careful before we pick on there finds. I have had some of this kind of thing over the years and it's not cool. I for instance have a CT Copper that looks like it was made yesterday and lots of LCs as well that are amazing but they are the exceptions to the rule for sure. I say take a man at his word until you know for sure.

Imagine what they would find if they had decent detectors LOL GO MINELAB

Point taken Todd, if the coin would have been minted before 1865, I never would have thought twice about it. If they say they don't plant, then I apologize. And your right, they really need to upgrade to the CTX!

Man I would love to see the episode. Anyone know the title of it or the number of the episode?

Have you watched this episode we are talking about? I'm all about taking a man for his word but you need to watch it if you haven't.

Thank you Sooper. I just watched the clip. I had to see it for myself. My heart sank when I saw lady liberty. What a shame. The silver 3 Cent is my favorite coin and seeing the Cu/Ni being paraded around like that with no corrosion was sad.

Come out of the ground. Nickels down here in South Texas typically come out of the ground looking like weathered tin but dug an Indian head one time that was 5" down and came out of the ground shiny like it was minted the week before!
I watched the Caribbean episode and the island expert identified a key they found as a clock or equipment key...it was not. It was actually a keg spigot key. I sent them an email and Ringy responded in less than an hour with a very nice email and a thank you.

All those shows are 'For Entertainment Purposes Only'. Completely scripted, badly acted, and doing damage to the hobby. I've watched maybe an hour of a combination of all those shows and have seen 3 'finds' that I am CERTAIN were planted.
Wish I had that hour of my life back. Total waste of time.

It's possible you think ? After all it's "roundness" in the whole mixed with "nectar" and a few cartwheels and somersaults mixed in will change iron into gold.......right ?? What an absolute joke really !!!!!

I thought I saw somewhere finds are recreated, that camera crews can't follow them and film everything if a find is going to be used they recreate it. May be wrong but that is what I thought.

I DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT
but i do know if the show was not that good to watch they would not be on TV. they must do what ever it
takes to make it entertaining. just like all shows on TV if its not that interesting no one would watch. so maybe they plant a coin
here and there. ?? but i also can tell you this if they had CTX3030 ON THE JOB would more of us watch. and we all know they
would find more stuff RIGHT!!!!!!! so it is what it is.

It's so frustrating that these clowns get permission to hunt some incredible sites; ie. Shilo, Corinth, Mt. Vernon, etc, etc. Just imagine what detectorists like the ones on this forum could find on those sites!!

so reality TV isn't reality.

I think them boys are the real deal but once cameras, monies, and sponsors get involved some scenes are staged. And I do enjoy some of their humor, everyone shouldn't take it so seriously.
KG and Ringy are living the dream.

Carry On

I THINK
someone else does the LEG-WORK 4 the show.the boys just go and have fun. yes i do understand it is frustrating but if someone
on the forum has money we can start our own show. we can call it GRAVE DIGGERS INC. what do you think?? i do believe if they
were swinging the bad boy CTX they would find allot more treasure NO PROBLEM !!!!!!!!!!!
