Digging old Shotguns caps to get to the Indians I know that are still around. :usaa:

Well, I headed out today back to the same place I went on the 16Th of last month.
Thanks goodness the grass has been cut since the last visit.

I might also add my oldest coin for 2012 in my signature also came from here and turned out to be a 1783 Reale.
I have pulling old coins from this property for over a decade now.
There is just so much property and it was a rather important stopping spot back in the 1800s.

I will say although the easy picks are long gone there are still coins to be had and sometimes they are fantastic digs.

The biggest problem is a certain area is infested with old paper style shotgun caps.
They are all different sizes besides gauges, and thus they tend to hit in many spots on the Smartfind Screen just like an deep Indian.

I killed about 2 hours today hunting the same cap infested spot the other Indians came from on Sept. 16Th.
It was a beautiful day but, the mosquito's are still lingering so, needless to say I got my blood drawn without consent.

I decided I would pull caps until another Indian surfaced.
I compare the complexity of digging these to pull-tabs but, almost worse. If someone where to hunt this and give up quickly because they felt all that was there was caps they would be leaving some nice coins behind.
Sadly, I scratched it ever so lightly (enough to remove its nice patina). But, scratched or not I will take another 1865 Reg 5. without regret.
I also was able to dig an old round buckle and a back of a pocket watch to go along with the 16 caps.
I save all my caps for fun and if anyone likes to find out their date here is a neat link I have posted before.
ShotShell Cap I.D.

I will always go back here over time as things are never really hunted out unless you pull everything out of the ground. Until then there will always be some neat keepers.
Here are today's digs.
