I have been visiting the Minelab forum for a year and have been quite impressed with the level of discourse and sincerity shown. This is my first post. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before an SE will be working for this total newbie. The link shows digging tools that are very similar to Lesche / Predator tools and may even be made by them.

I've found that you have to be careful with the shovel you choose while detecting with the Explorer. There is nothing more durable than these all metal shovels but they can sometimes give you problem with a really maxed out set-up for relic hunting. Many times you have to drag them behind you or carry them over your shoulder so you don't get a false signal as you swing the coil to the side you are carrying the shovel on.

I typically use a shovel with a fiberglass or wood handle, also sometimes use one with a plastic D ring handle. The screw or rivet in the handle is usually not a problem as they are pretty small. You can carry it by your side with the handle facing forward and no false signals.
