Going to break down and buy one any suggestions have got to post finds its driving me nuts.Ineed something easy to use . I hate cameras

I like the Fuji Finepix line. I have a 3.2 megapixel and it takes great close-ups. Here's a link to one that BestBuy carries...it's a 5.1 megapixel.

Here are some pics I took with mine...

it makes taking closeups of coins much easier. I use a canon powershot A300 (3.2 mega pixels). It takes a great picture and once setup - it easy to use. You can get on E-bay, brand new from dealers for a very good price. Use rechargeable batteries.

here's 1901 Barber quarter i found:

I bet you about died whenyou saw the 1901 and then turned it over only to find no S. Same thing happened to me. HH

I use the Canon SD400 5 megapixel. Easy to use, full of features, small and FAST! Takes great macros as you can see below. But all in all it really depends on your price range.

Hey thanks for all the camera info going to get one and ive got alot of photos to get on the net so dont get tired of it, have alot of photo catch up to do, dont hate me when you see the pictures, just kidding you guys are all right!

actually i was pretty happy with the condition of this coin and where I found it (between two tree roots about 6-8" apart). There's few coins that i have memorized as far as collector value but i always check a coin book afetr I get it cleaned up. The ones I memorize are the ones that gave me the biggest thrill finding, and the ones that look really good in the light of a digital camera. I try to think in terms of odds of finding such a coin and how many MD'ers found that coin on that day or ever. That makes it a rare find in my mind even without the "S".

It was encased with dirt -so i never see these coins until I get home and clean properly. Learned the hard way that rubbing off dirt can degrade a coin by quite a few dollars -so I practice great discipline
in not having to see coin right away.

But sure an "S" would have been icing on the cake. ;)

Leonard, if you want to take pics for the web I use a Sony Mavica FD73. You put in the same floppy disk your computer uses. No downloading etc. It has a optical zoom, Sony 37MM video lenses screw right on. I have a 7+ and a 10+lens, and also a wide angle telephoto zoom, about $40.00 on ebay if I remember correctly. If you want good pics buy a 35MM I have both. The computer screen you are looking at displays 72 dots per inch, you do not need an expensive mega pixil camera do do great web images. My entire web site www.crescentclock.com was done with the Sony. I tried to call, perhaps we can get together and do some hunting.

Wow! That's a 7 year old camera you are referring to. And I don't argue the fact that it takes great pictures for the web, but lets look at the facts. It's a .3 megapixel camera...and also one that's been discontinued...for years...and uses floppy discs to store the pics. I really mean no offense when I say it would be equal to comparing a 2006 model automobile to the Flintstone's family car. And the camera you mention originally sold for $400, whereas a 5.1 megapixel camera today (with gobs of picture storage capability) can be had for under $300. I know you could probably get one of the Mavica FD-73's on eBay for next to nothing and it WOULD be capable of taking pictures, but I think there are better choices to recommend for use today. Just my opinion...
