Digital Meter for sovereign GT

I read somewhere that sometimes they don't work on the GT.
I'm looking for one and see that there were several made at one time.
I like the sunray DTI-II but does it come with mount?
I want to use it to help me identify the different sounds-thanks for any help and input.
I try the search here but not successful
David

Not sure I completely understand your question. Minelab made the meters just for the Sovereign metal detector. I have used every version made at some point in the last 18 years or so. I currently use a 550 converted to a 180 on my GT. I like but sold the Joe Patrick Patriot Meter which was by far the best meter made. But all the meters in the world won't find anything better than one's ears, coil control and digging trash! Blue one is a Brand new meter I let go and the black one is an older 550 that was converted to a 180 which I used today.

David,my 180 meter will work fine on the GT.Had a couple bad 6 pin Mic connectors from China and these were replaced at no cost to the buyer. From the first to the current models have made a lot of improvements. These meters are calibrated and field tested before shipped and if there is a problem is backed by a 90 day warranty.I did have a problem from a new Sovereign user that wasn't sure if the meter was working and gave this customer a full refund. Good Luck Ron

Get Ron's meter and be done with it! You will not be disappointed.

The best meter for the money is the one Ron Makes, now for the best over all meter and it is hard to find any was the Sun Ray DTI 2 or the DTI 3 as they are no longer being made and those that have them are keeping them. If you were lucky enough to find one you will pay a lot more for them then the one Ron's makes and he back his meters.
The reason I like my Sun Ray DTI meters is the viewing angle so they are easy to see while swinging the detector(but Ron's is too) , they have a template with all the number on and what items falls into these numbers plus you have one cable from the coil to the meter and one cable going to the control box. Ron's meter is the best for the money and are very good meters.
The reason for a meter is for coin hunting on land and for learning the Sovereign as it will cut the learning curve as you will not only hear the tones you can see with the numbers what these tones mean, soon you will tell which one you want to hear and just walk away from those trash targets and only use the meter for those close tones our ears have a hard time telling the difference in.

Good Luck and have patience.

Rick

Why is the patrick meter best by far? Ive never used one but have used the sunrays, avengers and the minelab ones so I know how they perform.

I liked the ability to change from block to linear gave that little extra segments before you dig. Many times that little difference allowed for splitting hairs. The iron sentry was a plus, larger meter, lighted, build in chart right on the face!
When you have limited time to hunt all that helps. While I'm not a hunter that uses meters as a first choice, when using one I preferred the Patriot over the others I used.

Great response, thank you. If I run across one at a price that's reasonable to me I will give it a try.

I have a Sov XS, and have 2 meters... Ron's 180 and an ML XS2 meter converted to 180. Both work excellent.
