Digital Shielding Technology (DST) scored a very nice find.

I took the new F75 LTD with DST to another park where I could not use the F75 in the past due to the level of electrical interference. After popping out several nickels, beaver tails, ring pulls and tabs (I was ring hunting) I got an overload tone and thinking pop can or pocket knife (I’ve gotten some nice pocket knives that were overload tones) I parted the grass to see a very nice watch. A little research revealed how nice! Thank you Fisher and DST for a very nice $250 Nixon Sentry watch. :detecting:

So they're finally getting around to fixing the F75's EMI issues. Nice going on the watch.

Dang Hillis! :surprised: Thats a high class beauty there! It looks like it was dropped tomorrow! That watch would sure look sweet on you if you were sitting in a 400 dollar leather executives chair and smoking a big cigar! Glad to see you got a big high buck hit right out of the box with your new rig! What is this new DST? Is it something DJ's been working on?

Mike that is a superb find with your new machine!! Now if Mud was willing to give up his executive chair (recently tuned up) and bought you a nice Old Stogie cigar....

lol you are too funny Mud. You know how the old units use to chatter like a bunch of old ladies at bingo? With the new DST aka Digital Shielding Technology, it keeps the "chattering" out.

Nice fine, Mike. Looks good on you and should blend in nicely with your new camo detector. HH jim tn

Very impressive.:clapping:

Imagine using a stable F75 at max sensitivity :hot:

DST is basically additional filtering that can remove a lot of excess noise caused by electrical interference. It works really well. I can use the F75 now in places where I couldn't before at sensitivity levels I could never achieve before. Now when I hear an audio response I know it is coming from the ground, not the air. It makes the F75 a joy to use.

You don't have to use the DST if you don't need it. On the LTD version, When you do a factory reset the detector will display the revision number., you have the option to chose revision 9.0 which is the non-DST revision or you can use the knob to switch to revision 9.1, which activates the DST. The Digital Shielding affects every process when it is turned on.

I think the best way to use it is to do the factory reset, selecting 9.0. Then do your setup and see how it sounds. If you get a lot of chatter, do a frequency shift and see if that quiets it down. If the frequency shift doesn't get it to where you want it, then repeat the factory reset and switch to revision 9.1. Then do your setup again (factory resets will remove your previous settings). In most cases this will give a stable unit. If you still get some chatter, try the frequency shift and see if that removes it. If you still have a little chatter, you can either hunt with it, or turn down the sens a little bit until its quiet or try another process.

In my testing I have still ran into areas where I still get a little chatter with the DST activated but its more subdued, easier to keep in the back ground.

I can't help but love it.

Mike Hillis,

I'm still not clear if f-75 LTD owners can send in their units for the upgrade...and what's the cost? The time FT needs to do the up grade?
I also have an anniversary edition when they first came out...can they also be upgraded?
Do we call Felix, get a number like the usual repair method?

Are the new f75 ltd 2 detectors all black? Or gold center shaft? I just ordered one and im curious

The 75 LTD is all black.

Hi Steve,
I can't speak to that. I have no information. If I was running the company I'd want the new units out and available first, then I'd turn my attention to the upgrades.

I suspect that is what is taking place. But again...I have no information about it.

i just called fisher they told me that the update will be avalable at the end of this month and all the the info will be on there website fisherlab.com he would not tell me anything more.

DST? For handling noisy sites? That stands for 'disc', 'sens', 'thresh'? Heck, I already got it on my 70! Plus a 'Hz' button for some reason! :lmfao:

Any way you could test operation within 20ft of buried dog fence? I'd be very surprised if anything could ignore that and still detect with any kind of sensitivity. I'd consider one if it could be quiet and still get 8" depth

Mike one more question.. Based on what you know.. Is there going to ever be a need to shut off DST?? Or in that mode all is the same except EMI ??

Hi Bill,

You are in control. You can choose to turn DST on if you feel you need to turn it on. If the F75 is stable with your settings then there is no need to turn it on. If your settings cause more chatter than you want to deal with, and a frequency shift doesn't mitigate it, that is when you would want to turn DST on.

I have found locations where it ran stable in bp mode with 99 sensitivity and all that was required was a freq shift to stabilize it.

I always try that first, and if that doesn't stabilize it, then I turn DST on. And sometimes even DST needs a freq shift.

I tell you a stable F75 is a joy to use.

I ordered one cant wait to get it ... My f70 is a joy to use and not much chatter at all.. Sounds like the new f75 is just more stable all around.. Good to hear..
