Digs from another "hunted out" park ...

Hi Guys,

Here's a few finds from another locally hammered park. We hit this spot last year and only found a couple of wheaties. I'm not sure where all the targets are coming from but I have no complaints.

The ground is quite harsh on copper coins so the Indians and nickels are pretty toasted. However the LC is one of the nicest that I've found. I was excited when I saw a mint mark on the back of the '16 Merc but it was only an "S" (no "D"). My hunting buddies also had some good finds including a couple of barber dimes and a nice 1919 SLQ. A good time was had by all.

harsh winters cause frost heave..it's not really been warm enough for the ground to settle back down... Nice finds !

become less masked by the iron. That's my theory anyway. I know it takes a long time for a big old nail to disintegrate but big old nails aren't the only iron in the ground.
Sometimes a little piece of rust or two are all it takes to mask a good old silver coin or indian etc. AND lots of rain washes the iron halo away. Other things that help us deep
diggers are the multitudes of clad hunters out there that occaisionally remove a shallow target for us and 8 inches below that target is a good old coin that was being masked
by the new penny/nickel/pulltab/bottlecap etc. that was only 1 or 2 inches down. And of course we learn our machine a little better each year we use it. Then we get new machines
that separate a little better and/or go deeper. Changing settings or changing coils also brings out a few more goodies sometimes. How many of you knew the frequency channel you use makes
a difference in your depth? Hunted out parks are a challenge to me. There is not a park that had goodies at one time that I have given up on yet in 18 years of digging. It might mean waiting
a few years for things to change a little but I haven't given up on any of them.

Dave, you are making some phenomenal finds in "hammered" parks! I wish my hammered parks gave up the goods like this. Making finds like this, it seems as if nobody ever detected them lol. Keep up the great finds.
