disc and depth loss

Hi all just joined today, had my t2 a few months now and have a couple of questions if thats ok. Firstly if I was to turn the disc up to 40 to cut out the iron,would I lose any depth,secondly would I lose decent signals? I ask this as I have not found anything worth keeping below 47, thanks I hope that all makes sense.

Generally the more you increase the disc level the more depth you lose.Try an air test with a small gold or silver earing...you'll find that at a disc level of 10 you will get a decent depth whereas at 40 the depth drops off dramatically.In the field using a disc setting of 40,especially if the ground is not too good may mean you miss things like small jewellry items altogether.Where discrim is concerned less is more.

which is the area to be to get the most depth out of the T2 combined with high sensitivity (90's).......But this also leads to a constant chatter & a signal on every signal thing....
Read some of the old posts & you see references to a "power boost" or extra gain you can get with disc.
I DO run 40 alot when I don't need super depth, but I will keep the sensitivity up as high as I can to try to compensate for the depth loss......

If you are mainly coin hunting, a disc. setting of 50 puts the T 2 into a high gain mode. For coinshooting, I use that setting a lot with sen. up near 90 or more when I can. For relic hunting, then I use settings like Bill, so as not to miss buttons and lead. HH jim tn
