Disc and notch question on the LTD

If I am reading the manual right, there is no such thing as a 0 notch, correct?
So if I wanted to hunt in a mode process such as DE with absolutely no disc; I couldn't just be in 0 disc and notch one because that would cause the detector to notch in iron 1-7..correct??
Does that mean if I truly want 0 disc, do I have to be at 7 disc and notch 1 to then notch iron 1-7 out?

Or do I just leave it in 0 disc and it is automatically not in notch one as there is no notch 0??

Can someone explain that to me please? Thanks.

I want to try to hunt in all metal with different tones basically.

Disc "0" and no notch mark on lower ferrous (and of course any other segment) and you are in disc mode accepting all metals.

go to notch, rotate the knob to the minimum (you should see a slash over low ferrous and the display should say "1") now hit the red button...now rotate the knob 1 more click (that should eliminate the slash over lower ferrous) and hit the set button again. You're in business.
