Disc vs Notch?

When I read in one of the posts that notch only affects the audio response, I asked myself the question, why would one ever use disc instead of using notch? By setting my disc at 0 and notch to 00-10 it would be like hunting in all metal but not having to hear the iron, not loosing any depth and helping with the unmasking of targets. I have not tried this, since I don't have my Deus yet. Has anyone tried this and if so, what were the results? It could be that I am completely wrong about this and if this is the case, please set me straight. Thanks

I like to hear the iron but I guess you could notch say from 3-8 but I also wonder if you notch out a few lower numbers will you miss anything like iron and a good target mixed in the same hole??
