Discrimination selection

Happy hunting all!
On the discrimination page where you can select to have various targets (such as pull tabs or pop tops) 1.)checked off, 2.) un-checked (blank) or 3.) X-ed out, I had a question as to what the difference is between the blank and the x-ed out selection? If you leave them blanked out will the be discriminated against or do you have to have it X-ed out?
Thanks for the help!

On page 40-41 of your manual it tells you. If you do not have the manual you can dl it here: http://www.kellycodetectors.com/instmanuals/minelab/explorer-se.pdf

Flee,
I had the same question at first. Reading the manual doesn't fully explain the difference. But here is what I learned...
If for example you are in a pattern that discriminates most targets (mostly black). Then you go to pulltab and it is not checked. If you put a chech in pultabs, you will now go to white on the screen for the area that includes pulltabs but not affect areas that are not pultabs.
On the other hand, if you are accepting a lot of targets and pulltab response is already included (white) becuse you selected targets that didn't discriminate in the pulltab area, checking pulltabs will not change any pixels in your smart screen or you may see jusy a few pixels change. You should download the Explorer SE emulator program and play with that.

Great Sim Program!! Havin a ball working the different program features.

I still have the question as to what the difference is between the "checked off" VS. the "blank" descrimination. They program nor my detector seem to make no difference. I know the X-ed ou will make the detector go quiet for a particular find. Just not sure about the other settings. Any advice?
Thanks again!

Try this. Select coins only. (Checked).
Look at the smart screen. Lots of black (discriminate) on the left.
Now put a check in FE coins.
Now you have a section on the top left not disciminated.
If you check pull tabs, you will not see a change because the check in coins already includes the area where pull tabs are.
It depends what other things you have selected.

If you discriminate out any think right of iron mask 22 exact crown caps, you will potentially loose good targets
