i have a surf pi which is a home build...i went onto local beach to test and found some signals where dissapearing after i dug them which is very frustrating...can someone tell me why this happens...is this normal or have i made the detector incorrectly ?? also sometimes the auto tune is a bit slow to reset to normal threshold..but blares out before it go's back to normal level

Dave, on the target problem, this happend to me about 50 years ago.I live in FL theres gold
in Georiga.I was doing to find me some GA, gold went to GA gold field.I was walking down
a rocky ditch (might have been a creek at one time) got a good target signal in a crack between
2 rocks. thinking found a nuget, removed the rocks, the ground was hard so i started chopping at the
hard ground, with my digging tool, what ever was there went flying all over the place.I lost my target.
I spent a lot of time on north FL, beach.a PI- will detect pockets of rust( you might be near a old reck)
when you dig a rust target some-times it will disapper.
Did you try the PI on white sand with a good target. if you made a detector and it works you
did good.Good luck.
