Distant pics trouble

I would like to ask for any advice on the subject of taking pics at a distance. The distance being from my front yard to the yard across the street. I have a Mavica fd 85. I get a somewhat fuzzy pic. I have tried most of the settings with similar luck. The flowers and yard pic was taken on automatic so I could test it by not holding it. Thanks for any help, Frustrated in so az ( Steve)

The center of your picture is the house. The autofocus would be adjusting on that, it seems. Anything beyond that would be out of focus. That would be my guess....

I am no expert by any strentch of imagination but you did not say whether you were holding it or had it on a tripod but if you put it on slow synchro it may do the trick. Try it agian and let us know. The shakes will make it blurred.

I did have it on auto - sitting by itself. The camera has a sharpness setting . I know nothing about it, think I will experiment. Thanks guys, I'll have to mess around with it some more. Steve in so az
