 I became addicted to mding on1-4-09.I have found 1550 clads. 3 wheat's no silver. 2 gold bracelets ,1 gold pin ,1gold ring 1 silver earring with a big CZ stone , But I feel there should be more . Is this part of the addiction?

You did great !:clapping:
Try to enjoy and have fun don't make it a chore !

Depending on how many hours you invested it looks like you're doing pretty good. Remember this is a hobby to be enjoyed - not a contest or profession. If you're new to the hobby then you can't expect to score big until you become more profecient with your machine and it does get better the more you learn. Finding the right areas to hunt plays a big part in the scheme of things. How many hours did you put in to find all that?

I go for days sometimes and don't find squat because I hit the wrong areas at the wrong time. Hang in there as it will get much better.

You're doing very well...take note of what you were doing and what you heard when you found good stuff and you will find good stuff more often. I've known people who were hunting a lot longer than you have been before they found their first gold. Well done & good luck

bossman,

I've only been at it for about a year and aside from a few silver coins, my finds don't even come close to yours. I know exactly how you feel and I think it's pretty normal to always want a little more. It's part of what keeps folks, like Uncle Willy, having at it for nearly a half century. There's alot of other reasons too. Personally when I'm detecting I forget all about my troubles and worries, unfortunately I sometimes forget about my chores around the house too and that never sits well with you know who. As long as you're having fun, you're doing it right.

Ive been at it about 6mo, before the heat set in I spent at least 2 days a week ,about 6-7 hrs a day . I know the big find is coming, Just ready for it now. Oh well I keep looking,in fact its 545 am and I'm headed to the socker fields . HH everyone

Chains are very difficult to detect. The detector sees each link as a target. If it has chunky links a lot easier. I would consider your chains major finds but I'm easy, I guess.

I analyze my hunts and MD seasons. You're what I would consider way ahead of the curve on gold, way behind on silver jewelry (it will come though), behind on wheats, and behind on silver coins. Silver coins is probably a matter of where you're hunting. That is also a good clad count for your first 6 months.

I suspect you are getting to the point where you're getting quite good at detecting so your totals will probably increase quickly from here.

I always wish for more so I guess it is for me.

You've been blessed, Bossman. Count your blessings. my biggest problem is finding public places that will let you hunt.

seems like a good haul to me:thumbup: i have same problem as fongu = very hard to find land to legally detect on here in the UK, it`s all owned by wealthy land owners or local authorities, there are some good natured farmers out there but not really in the south east where i live,:ukflag:= loads of history, laws= can`t get at it and much of it will be destroyed by farm machinery or allowed to sink so low that only the most powerful PI units will find it:thumbdown: what a waste of a heritage that has approx 4000+ years worth of metal artefacts waiting to be found:shrug: it`s no wonder that a fair number of people have taken up Nighthawking:ninja:
