Have a Ex II that's uses batteries up (8 double AA) in about 8 hours of use. Question :is this normal? I also have two rechargable batteries

and these only last a few hours each.. Is it the machine or something else??

That seems a bit excessive but I have seen running open screen with max sensitivity drain batteries in 5 hours. Heat also will drain batteries quicker but I don't think that's the case.

I use Eneloops, any high quality slow discharge batteries are the go. 8 hours is about right is you max out the screen contrast, have a high threshold, sens, etc.

When you charge your batter, do you give it the full 13 or 14 hours according to the manual?
I have an Exp II and charge it that amount of time and it works fine. Leaving it outside in the cold or hunting when it is cold out will drain your battery too.
