Do the newly manufactured GTI 2500's have some sort of new features?

I thought I heard that Garrett has got rid of the treasure talk feature, and added some sort of back light that can be accessed on demand. When are these new GTI 2500's, being made available? In the end I just wish Garrett would make the GTI series in a lighter smaller power supply package. Actually I just wish Garrett would come out with something completely new.
Thanks in advance

I read on this forum about the changes you are mentioning. I seem to recall there weren't really any what I would call major changes to the 2500's performance. The post was made by Alan (bearkat) as I recall. That post also introduced the new pinpointer. Never mind I found it:

I use a 2500 exclusively. I like the way it is solidly built but I do wish it was just a bit lighter. Hip mounting the battery pack does not work for me at all. The cord is too short. If history is any guide nothing new until next Fall at the earliest. I got mine last Fall around 11 months ago. I'm closing in on $2500 bucks worth of loot. When Garrett releses an new top end machine I'll probably get one.

It is too bad to hear the voice is going to be totally deleted. Too bad it is not an option you could turn on and off. I know a lot of us are going to be... Lonely again, out there in the field

Yeah you've done quite well. Rumor has it that Garrett is considering a lighter model. Tesoro makes 2.5 pound machines, no reason Garrett can't.
