Things seems to be a little slow in regards to finding items of interest which personally for me is due to the really hot weather here in Southern California. I went out yesterday for about an hour and came back sweating and just plain uncomfortable. Although I found a bunch of coins and a few other items not worth posting, metal detecting for me is just not fun to do when almost every day is so hot and bone dry.
I metal detected this WW2 British Army Pay Corp hat badge along with many old coins about 3 years ago from a wooded area in a park in central England. I go there once a year so this was on one of my trips across the pond!
This kind of badge is fairly common and is worth just a few $'s but if you are a metal detectorist, these kinds of items/relics have so much more meaning to you. I guess we could be classed in a special kind of archealogical field because most of us have a similar passion for retrieving things from the ground!!
The reason I posted it was it made an impression on me. I got to thinking after I detected it about who it was who dropped it almost 70 years ago? Also the fact that I was the first to find this badge after all those years had passed by. I also found a WW2 ARP (Air Raid Patrol) silver badge from just a few feet away from the other badge.
I know many of you have found similar items that have made a similar impression on you so I invite anyone to post one of your favorite finds!

One of my favorites is this 1731 2 Reale made into a necklace. Found it was just a replica, but boy was I excited seeing that in the bottom of my scoop. Happy hunting.

Yep, those replica coins can look like the real deal! I remember you finding that silver quill pen and I wonder how valuable that would be? Did it have the end of a feather/quill in it originally or a metal point? It would be easy to attach the end of a feather sharpened at an angle to complete it!

My favorite find is a 1938 Radio Orphan Annie Secret Society decoder badge. I found it at a park in Concord, GA. The park is located on an old railroad station site. Pics to follow.

and 1813Large cent not my oldest but in at least ef40 condition I sold for close to 1000 many old 1700 reals my second sorry I haven't been posting much on here having a hard time resizing pictures

Markinga....what a neat find!! thanks for sharing! croakersmoker78.....what program do you use to resize? I just open any pic in 'paint' that I have downloaded from my camera to my computer and just resize to 40% and that will reduce any pic to below the 420 KB that the forums require to post.
