away in the trash barrel if one is available where I'm hunting. I did keep the pull tabs I found one summer, gave up after 2500 <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

except for spoons that I figure are old. I found a spoon once that had a year of 1912 on it and initials. I don't know where that thing went since my move. I've been trying to find out if anyone collects the Little Boy Blue silver fork. I found one 2 or 3 yrs. ago at a forest preserve where it used to be a Boy Scout camp. If you guys and gals know of any Boy Scout camps do go there because you will find stuff. My Md'ing buddies have found more silver coins in that camp than any other place they've been too and still producing too. I found a 1953d Franklin half, lots of mercs and rosies. One problem is the iron in that place, lots of tent stakes. One thing good about the place is it's quiet and peaceful. Nobody to bother you while your detecting.

I do keep some items that could be used - for example an iron ring made of square iron stock that is about 12 inched round - maybe my future dinner bell <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
I saved some lifters from an engine. One I used to hold the foor of the van on when the hinge pin disappeared.
I keep all the keys - with and without keyrings. Maybe future wind chimes <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
Then there are the 'globs' - large chunks of metal whether aluminum, lead, etc. No real purpose but keeping them anyway.
Lead split shots and sinkers I keep - never know if I will buy another fishing license and go fishing.
Kept some pulltabs for testing purposes. Same as some bottle caps, nails, etc for testing purposes.

I keep copper, lead and brass separated and all other metal is placed together. I clean it first from dirt and mud! I have keys....all kinds....spoons, forks, all kinds of misc that I don't know what half even is! I won't throw it away until I know that IT IS JUST PLAIN OLD TRASH! Have WWII rifle shells (lots), bullets, (bent, pcs of and cut coins) and civil war minnie balls and etc. Kids toys. Also keep aluminum metal separated. Have turned some cans in for cash! Have sold lead sinkers in garage sales but still have some!
That doesn't even include the stuff I've thrown away!
Yes, I'm a collector(YOU KNOW -- PACK RAT)! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?"> <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry">

Most junk gets tossed. I have kept a few odds and ends, like parts of an old lock and a 5 pound chunk of plumbers lead.
