Do you use a carryall bag for your metal detector & assorted accessories?

If so... I wanna know what you use.

I'm talking about a single bag that you keep all your metal detecting stuff in you would need in the field. Basically one that holds a metal detector, pinpointer, batteries, extra coils/loops, recovery pouch, small shovel/hand digger etc. etc... you get the idea.

I am looking for one that will work well. So what do you use?

I kind of like to keep my detector a bit seperate from the kind of things (shovels) that could damage the coil, cable or connectors.
I suppose a pad around the shovel head would be easy enough to rig up though.

I do not yet! What I would like is a bag to keep my "other" stuff in my car! I got 2 diggers, a hat, knee pads, gloves. I just need a duffle bag, Beale.

i usually carry my detector as is,and use a sm duffle bag for all the other stuff
knee pad,extra batteries,wallet,cell phone, diggers,water,etc
the duffle bag works great, holds a lot,and if need be when my detector is broken down it fits in
works for me!

The bag I find that works best for me is a cross country ski bag. These bags usually have two O rings with a strap at the ends which allow you to snug the bag around your metal detector. This ski bags can be found at most used sporting goods stores for a couple of bucks.I usually carry the probes and extra batteries in a Black&Decker power hand saw bag.

I use a carry bag for an old folding chair. It has a strap so it can be slung over the shoulder and a pull string closure. And it was free.

I have used those folding chair bags. They do work good for a dust cover for the control box,but not big enough to cover the coil area.

I, too, like to keep accessories away from the detector, so I have a detector bag that came with a detector some year's ago that is a good size for me, as it was designed for the detector to break down. Unless I am traveling some distance, I carry all my stuff in this bag and just lay my F 75 in the back of my SUV, with the rear seats down. HH jim tn

I use a cheap plastic crate sometimes used a storage by college students in a dorm room They can stack and have an open front. I put all muy accessories in there and lay the detector across the back seat. It's a practical solution because when I put that crate in the car, everything I need is in that crate and I know I haven't left anything behind. I have a beautiful new MineLab heavy duty bag folded and sitting on a shelf. It'll probably stay there. Jim

I keep my detector by its self. All the other stuff is in a gym bag.

I have found that a cheap foldding golfbag is absolutley ideal for the safari.half the price of regular bags too at about 12 uk pounds at argos.with pockets as well.could easily store a roughneck in there but best not to I think.

I've got one of these somewhere in storage (I bought it for a trip years ago & never got around to using it) .....I've checked the online measurements & it seems it will hold my detector (broken down in two pieces),small shovel, diggers, pinpointers, battery packs...etc. etc.. I figure I can tack in a thick piece of fabric as a divider between my shovel & detector (to protect it some). Maybe even a plastic box/frame to put inside it to give it better structure.

Now I just gotta try & find where I put it years ago.

Its called an israelli duffle or mossad duffle bag http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&rlz=1T4ADBF_enUS253US253&q=mossad%20bag&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

no sir, i don't use a carry - all bag, and never have. i found out long ago they are too cumbersome and just don't work into the scheme of things. all i need is my machine [ the headphones are wrapped and taped on ] my digging iron, cellphone, and a bottle of water. i tend to move quickly and efficiently, and don't have time to play with a bag in the field. i have no need for a pinpointer, either. a lot of people clutter up their digging pouches and knapsacks with all these gadgets and gizmos, three days of food, snakebite kits, candy bars, extra digging tools, 14 batteries, etc. you gotta carry it, not me.

even if a crook did manage to get into my home and steal all my detecting gear, i certainly would not put it all into a nice and neat and very portable package for him to make off with. the only thing missing from that scenario would be a very big "please steal me " sign. so, no, i just don't see the benefit of carry - all bags. they end up taking time [and consequently finds] from the hunt. just my two cents, and hh!

well, I just want something I can keep my stuff in so I can easily move it from my vehicle to my home. And to keep it in my trunk mostly (as weather permits... not too hot... not too cold).

It will basically hold :

My detector (broken down in two parts)
One extra coil
Small shovel
Main digger & backup digger (I've broken 3 lesches in the past)
Main pinpointer & backup pinpointer
Kneepads
1 extra battery pack (for my metal detector)
an extra 9-volt battery (for pinpointer)
Small hip-pouch

....and that's about it. DOesnt seem too much or overthought.

Note: My cellphone I already carry on my person wherever I go.

p.s. When not in use I hide my metal detectors, my laptops , ipod & every other easy, small stealable item I own ....in a few secret compartments I have built in my place. I am a bit paranoid when it comes to keeping what's mine... mine.

you are right, jim. i fear with worsening economic times, more burglaries and robberies will go on. on second thought, a carry all bag would do you well in that area. it's just that i've seen so many hobbyists over the years carry much more than they would ever need on a detecting trip, and end up exhausted from it. i've seen some of us lay their bag down at the beginning of a hunt, detect all day, then have to trudge all the way back to retrieve their bag. but, it's like the old saying goes - "it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." hh!

I'm one of those carry it all guys. You are right, it is cumbersome and gets in my way more than I care to think about! But I am everyone's best friend when their batteries die (and I have a spare) or their loop bolt breaks (you guessed it, I have a spare). So it has it's advantages! Wonder how much someone is willing to pay for a loop bolt when they are two miles into the woods, at the beginning of a beautiful day's hunt????:clapping: HH
