Detectors that is in such nice condition that all you do is take it out of the closet on occasion to just
look at it? Thank goodness I have another that I use.....

Nice Machine! Mine has seen a lot more use. I even put the Snooper coil on it for a coupla hours last week.

If you decide to donate that "relic", as some call them, lemme know. I'll give it a GOOD home!:clapping:

Cheers, DR

I had 3 Xl Pros but sold one on e-bay awhile back. It sold within 15 minutes with a buy it now....
Those that had them still want them......it seems they bring more now than they did a few years ago!
I think I should hold onto them even if I don't use them that often...Duggr

I'll take it been wanting one for years!!!!!

Hey Duggr,

Nice of you to share pics of 6000 XL Pro. Yes, but mine is a XL Pro which I bought a couple of years ago from my local dealer for full retail price (which sucked). . . Didn't get a break on it other than they let me put it on lay-a-way which helped on the pocket book. Mine came with the Black Max 950 (like yours) and I purchased a 5.3 coil too. Both coils came with scuff covers.

Man!, mine is so deadly accurate, I seem to drift back to use vs. my Vision (pre-Spectra V3).

Question, is your detector coil supposed to be labeled "Pro XL Deepscan"?

Thanks for sharing, Long Live the 6000!

Hey Duggr and to all that chime in. What ever happend to Monte, he doesn't seem to post here anymore?

The standard 9.5 coils on the 6000 and XL pro were all the same pancake thin coil, some just had a different sticker on then.
Although whites does have a replacement coil now that seems to be more rigid than the earlier models,,,

my 5900 used to look like that about ten years ago..... i bought it at a yard sale for $75.00 ....... need less to say its paid for it self many times over....i still have the thin coil on mine as well.... i bought the newer thicker coil but in my opinion the older thinner coil is deeper and more responsive....

and now and then visits the Tesoro Forum etc. when he makes his rounds.

I sometimes get a bit side-tracked with some topics elsewhere, and I pop on and read a LOT of forums, but don't always post. I also seem to tie a number of responses in with the model(s) that I am using the most at the time. Because I have been working a lot with more of the later style, digital design models I have concentrated most of my detecting efforts with the White's MXT and MXT Pro, M6, and Teknetics Omega, T2 and G2 over the past 6-12 months.

Because most of those who attend the seminars that I do which are hosted by detector dealers, folks usually have the 'modern' detector models and I haven't seen many XLT or XL Pro or former models during the pay year of seminars. Instead, the new shoppers, or those who parted with a good unit and moved up to a lighter --digital -- detector are in attendance.

In reality, I am still here and 'around' but, lacking a few of my all-time-favorite detector models, I haven't been posting on some forums as much. Part of the problem is that for various reasons, such as buying a newer model to check out and work with, I have parted with a 'goody'. So that part of the frustration of visiting the Analog or XLT forums is that I am frustrated with myself for letting my last choice units go. The other thing that is frustrating, to me, is that some models I consider to be an 'all-time-favorite' detector (the Classic ID, IDX Pro, XL Pro and XLT) have been discontinued.

Yes, some of the reasons were due to parts availability, but in some cases dealers didn't promote the lower-end models, or even some of the mid-range detectors, preferring to push customers to the upper-end models. So, the Classic ID and IDX Pro didn't get pushed as hard as they should have. Then the XL Pro, while a truly great performer, lacked the 'flash' of the LCD display models, Tone ID, or other assorted adjustments. So, many dealers I know/know just didn't give it the credit it deserved and it wasn't heavily promoted, or at least not to the degree that I felt it should have been.

Sadly, manufacturers have switched greats and got the 'digital' route and the great-performing analog designs are dying off. I wish they could concentrate their efforts to developing a modern detector that would have the necessary parts for adjustment, but duplicate the performance of the XL Pro and other former models. it's not easy to do with the quirks that are associated digital circuitry designs.

I was going to get a brand new XLT before they were gone, but I didn't get my order to a dealer until he returned from a winter jaunt to Arizona. I placed the order, but lost out to the last XLT at the factory being plucked from shipping to go on display as the final specimen of a long and successful life. Just 2 weeks late.

On my immediate 'shopping list' for 2011 is to find a new, in-the-box XLT as some dealer out there might still have a new or display model they want to part with (at a nice price). I also need Royal 800 and 5.3 Bulls Eye coils. Next on my shopping list is to find a choice, pristine condition XL Pro, and then 3rd to locate will be an almost perfect IDX Pro with Mr. Bill's modifications.

I always pamper my personal detectors which is why I am looking for new, or as close to perfection as I can find. I tried to locate an XLT form a dealer to 'drop a hint' to the wife to get me a birthday present I'd use, forever, but that aging even occurs in six days and I can't find a deal. So, I am also on-the-hunt for a choice XL Pro and IDX Pro that can fill that void in my personal detector battery.

So, if you know of such a critter just looking for a good home with a loving handler, shoot me an e-mail. :) In the meantime, I'll just have to drool over the photos duggr posted and have to find one or just get over my burning desires to have three of the best models, ever, from a great manufacturer. My birthday is Saturday and I leave next Sunday morning on a vacation to many of my long-time favorite ghost towns as I head 'home' to see family, friends, and get ample detecting in while I can.

Yes, Monte is around, just envious of those who still own and use the excellent 6000 Pro XL, or renamed XL Pro, and the string of former models that lead to the making of these.

Happy Hunting to all!

Monte

Safe travels Monte...And thanx for all you input over the years!

damn thing's "brand spankin' new!"..looks like it was made yesterday!
..must have led a "sheltered" life! just sayin!

Yes I believe your right! The guy I bought it from said it was in good shape!
He sold it with a 5.3 coil that was new and threw in 2 whites Bullseye II pinpointers
which I traded for a Brand new Royal scan 800 coil with cover. Best Part about the deal
is I have only $300.00 in this detector after figuring the average selling cost of both coils...
I sold another XL Pro I had on ebay with a Buy it now of $495.00 and it sold within 15min.
Unfortunately greedy ebay charged me $50.00 for selling it not counting the paypal fees...
I still have another XL Pro besides this one so I will Keep this One in it's Hard case just in
case I want to sell it to help fund a purchase of a New Etrac down the road
Duggr

just curious!..what is makin' ya chase the e-trac?..thanks!

Mines from 1993, and it's a little ' scuffed-up' but it works great and you could'nt pay me enough to buy it from me. I was wondering why you havent' used it and if not useing it would be bad for the unit? What I mean is , does leaving it set - for who knows - how long - damage an electrical device?

Hi Fred!
I haven't used this XL Pro because at the time I had two others that I used... Now I
only have the one and it's now off getting my Tone Mod installed..... I don't know much
about electronic components but I think like everything else there is probably a time
period when components will fail after being used for a Long Period of time rather than
not being used much at all if they are stored correctly....Maybe someone can answer your question
better than I....................Doug
