also are they still competitive with the more recent machines? Any help will be appreciated!!

I had a 6000D which was in 1971 and I think right after that a 6000Di. They had a meter and a selector switch for VLF, TR, and Discrimination as I recall with motion and no motion operation. I don't know if this helps much but the DI Pro SL came from these basic designs.

I've a 6000 di pro made about 1984,I believe the sl model was produced around 1990. Ask monty he'll know for certain. The 6000 di pro is a good 4 filter machine that will keep up with many current high end machines for coins,jewerly and relics. It's a versitile workhorse.
 
I believe they came out in the spring of 1989 and were replaced by the 6000 PRO XL in 1999. ( I think ) and in the right hands, a very competitive detector. Jeff
