Does anyone Modify the SD2000 in the US?

Hi,

I second that question, plus would like to know who is currently doing Sd 2000 mods anywhere at all. I've got one I'd not mind having enhanced.

Hi Steve,
there is Finders and a fellow named Ismael.
Both are in Australia. I'll try to post the links or contact info.

I see snakejim has found finders. Here's the direct URL again

He is correct about the guy in WA (west Australia) but that's a completely different kettle of fish.

Finders have been around the longest and have a good record with the mods displayed. They have a new one called Super Fix, but it remains in testing as far as I can see. It also costs and arm and a leg $1000 + so I would wait a while on that one.

I expect finders do a bit of work overseas so you may want to talk to them about how that side of things could work. Australian cusoms service may have a specfic catergory to allow free entry for repairs.

I was happy with both jobs and would recommend it to anyone thinking about it.
I cant remember the exact cost, but it was in the order of AUD$250, say USD$175 or thereabouts.
The mod comprised a signal response modification (the original SD2000 had a muddy broad signal) and a 4 position sensitivity knob.
This knob has a tendency to get knocked and damaged, but for the week end user it should last OK and the knob is easily replaced by any electronics repairer. I use mine on a day to day basis and have only had 2 replaced in 6 years.
The improvement in the machine is quite marked and brings it up to the level of the SD2100 or a tad better.

Thanks Guys! I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and send it to Finders for the Mods unless I can trade it in with a GP3000 towards a GPX-4000?
