Does anyone understand the NOTCH system on the F75 ?

that's what most Etrac owners do, that's why they don't find many gold rings but they sure do find the older silver......

Saamdigger:

Don't have the time right now to type an answer for you but take a look at my posts for 1/5/09 and 1/6/09. Another member asked for an explanation of the Notch system and apparently now understands how it works in relation to Disc. It's not really complicated but just seems that way. Let me know if you need further info. HH

Ron

If dissed out..you can notch it in..or if disc in you can notch it out.

This is the best explanation of how to use the F75 notch system I have seen.

Seems like a shame to have Notch on your detector but never use it. Here's a situation to think about; Let's say you're hunting an area of mucho non-ferrous trash with VDI numbers in the 20's and 30's. So much junk that you are, if fact, getting audio fatigued. You also know that there are numerous nickels in the area that register a solid VDI of 30 and you don't want to miss them. You also want to detect VDI #66 and above. Other than turning the volume all the way down and just looking at the numbers, how would you set up the F-75 to detect only VDI #30 and everything above VDI #66? You old timers give the new guys a chance to think this one through, OK (Clue; Check the manual p.21)

Run with 3H tones. All high tones are "good" targets, including nickles.

keep on diggin'

In 3H or 4H all targets with a VDI from #26 thru #35 would register high (good) tone. Still audio fatigue. The idea is to set up the F-75 to detect only #30 and everything above #65.

It is my opinion that simplification in navigation is the obvious choice over hidden menus and flow charts.
Minelab and Whites make it difficult to even find important features so you can make the changes.
How does simplification of the interface lead to more complexity over not even being able to even find something to use?

I will take an easy to navigate system where I can find features then learn how to adjust the ones I want over a navigation system where I can

:yikes:Sounds like you have a general idea of how to work advanced technology but need a little more practice so you can learn how to handle the fastest most sensitive detector on the planet. Let

my choosing to ignore "the need" to go over to the specific forum and vent off and on over time about my less than stellar experiences with the 4 Exterrors I've owned is a good thing?

You've been sorely missed as this forum has fallen in entertainment value without your repartee!

As far as being a moderator, I was asked to help out, plain & simple. I'm a Boy Scout at heart, what can I say? :) You can confirm that with the other moderator, and I know you know where to find him to fact check that. And yes I think he's a better moderator, much more circumspect!

In regards to my visiting the Tek forum, check my very few posts there, you will find that most of them have been to help other posters when they seem to get no replies to their questions. You're welcome.

As far as my "continuously" posting on this forum, aside from this thread here are links to the only other 4 posts I've made here in the last 90 days:

Please point out to everyone here what kind of problem you have with those posts. I welcome your examination and critique of those posts. Are you in favor of digging grave sites? Did my post upset you because you believe in digging up graves? Or was it the one where I helped one of "your" customers understand how to Ground Balance their detector? I must be a Fisher shill for doing that right? How dare I? I'm sure the staff at Garrett, Tesoro, & White's now think I'm a Fisher shill! Oops I forgot, maybe I'm a White's shill too(my V3 posts from the last 90 days):

Now there was a question asked on this forum about notching, a couple posters replied without being able to provide the needed information of how to do it. "I" provided the information needed so that "your" customer was able to adjust their detector. You're welcome. Another poster asked a question about why the information they were looking for on "your" product was not easier to find. I pointed out a characteristic of the search engine on this forum that may be preventing them from finding that information on "your" product. You're welcome. I also provided an example of a framework that I used to create an FAQ that would be immensely useful for "your" forums if someone cared to put in the effort to do it(And that has been requested by posters in the past). So far I haven't seen anyone leap to their feet to volunteer, and that includes you. There are talkers & there are doers in this world, nuff said on that.

As far as comments/opinions on your detectors, well since I own CZ's, Classics, and an F machine I believe I've paid the price of admission to make comments about them. I understand in your job position that you need to promote & defend your product which is what you should be doing. Since I don't sign your paycheck I will refrain from providing feedback on your job performance.

As far as this being "your" forum, I was here before you took your position with First Texas, squatters rights is the way I see it. Have I been a thorn in your side? You betcha, I can be a Royal PITA! And I will probably continue to be as the "Barnacle" in my screen was chosen with that spirit in mind. And my purpose? As an "Old Fisher" user I was hoping to see the products taken in certain directions to make them better when First Texas took over the line. There was a golden opportunity to refine the product line and improve features/performance. In my view that hasn't happened, and the quality went in the tank. I've beat you up over this for a couple of years now, and you're not happy about it, and I can understand that. But if I'm still at it, what does that tell you about how displeased I am with what I've seen happen? Now if I didn't care I wouldn't be agitating you(FT), I could just ignore you and not use your product like I do with Garrett.

As the "Sales" guy you should recognize the value of my still being engaged enough to poke & prod you. Would you rather have a long time customer engage you or just walk away with no explanation of why you've lost them. What is that you learn as a sales person when customers just walk away with no post-mortem? I'd rather have a customer on the telephone screaming at me, because at least I have an opportunity to save them as a customer. If they don't even make the effort to call......well it's over.

Now if I was really as nefarious as you try to paint me then I wouldn't respond to posts here, I would simply PM the posters and convince them not to buy your product. Is your e-mail inbox filled with Findmall forum users with copies of PM's I've sent them to convince them to buy Minelab and not your products? I must be failing miserably as a Minelab shill if that isn't the case!:rofl::rofl:

Happy Hunting Mike, but stay away from those grave sites except on Halloween!

Somewhat respectfully,
BarnacleBill

P.S. Please note that I avoided certain subject matter as I don't want to see you banned & banished to the "Official Fisher" forum.

SamDigger... Hope this helps you some.
