Does anyone use the Delta Pitch tone?

I used the Delta Pitch tone setting for the first time yesterday, it was different, to say the least. I found myself switching from Delta Pitch in Disc Mode to All Metal Motion just to verify what I was hearing and, most of the time, it made sense. When you get a good target, there is no doubt about it, the tone will remain solid at the same pitch, but, for anything with any difference it sounds like 6 people trying to learn the harmonica at the same time. After an hour or so of playing in that mode, I have to say I like Tones 3 or 3H better...JMHO.

I've been running DP for about a month...slowly trying to figure out what this machine will do,(F70) and what settings suit my style and area of hunting the best...
Swept an area I've hunted 20 times before, and got some more clad...When I first got this detector, I didn't want to fool around learning it much, just sweepeng as fast and furious as possible..in AT mode only...for the past few months, been playin with disc 15, sens 70, thresh -3 , 1 notch, 3H or DP...
Verdict is still out as to where I'll settle down comfortably. I think I'll stay in AT on the beach, I like to hear some iron there, bobby pins, and those little hair clips especially...even a sparkler wire says somebody was here at night, throw a bottle cap in the mix, and you got ..."Somebody was here at night,with a girl,drinking" which could mean theres some valuables that got left behind in the scuffle..

I played around with it off and on with my regular F 75, but always seemed to end up back in tones 3h and 4h. HH jim tn

By trashed I mean loaded with all types of pull tabs. It did sound off on older PT's as high signal. (??) So I did dig a lot of the older ones that were 5 to 7 " deep.

But that being said , so did the guy with me hit as good targets some old pull tabs..he was using a Whites MXT. with 5.3 coil. This was the F75 I am speaking of.

I was able to pull a few Silver Mercs using DP that I missed with other detectors due to masking.

Interesting Elton,you think the DP helped you pick through the masking better?? I havnt spent a lot of time in this process,like Roland I cant get comfortable with it? I will check it out in the spring but mean time you guys in the south should do a little research and report back.Good question Roland....hh rick in mi.

And when it comes to something like a dP (delta Pitch) mode, I was 'spoiled' by the White's XLT. That detector was designed to work with a concentric coil, and that can make a difference because a Double-D coil can produce a somewhat different response when the sweep approach changes from left-to-right from right-to-left. Also, there are just many other differences. Now, I DO like the XLT, and at times I DO like to use the audio Tone ID, but not always. I found that when I got into the trashier parts of the ghost towns it was much too 'busy' and there was more masking due to the jumble of audio tones which seemed to leave you a bit confused.

When I got the T2, and with the F75's I have used, I have tried to get comfortable with the dP Tone function but always go back to either a 2-tone (Iron and Non-Iron) or 4 Tone ID, and on occasion I even opt for just 1. For me, with the way the F75 and T2 work and the coil generally mounted, the delta pitch just doesn't do it for me.

I would have missed them due to the high content of pulltabs even with the fast proceesor speed in three tone.

So for me it worked in trash. In general I use three tone.

I guess it is what works best for you. Elton, if you can pick things out of trash better with the delta pitch, I'd say go for it! Personally, I find myself in All Metal Motion about 90% of the time.........that's where I have the best results "picking." For example, I pulled a dime from about 5" deep that was about an inch from a crushed aluminum can......I could 'see' them both with just a slight movement of the coil when swinging in one direction and the dime would disappear when swinging 90
