Does Fisher's Lifetime Warranty still apply?

Anyone have the info on why Fisher is charging big money to repair 1280's and CZ20's. I have friends that are receiving big bills to repair their detectors after water gets in through the knob seals. It's $120 bucks to replace earphones that go bad too. They are changing to some other brands since for a couple dollars more they can get a new machine.

Fisher's Life time warranty started in 2001 or 2002, new detectors after that are cover. before that good luck.

Thanks for the info. I should have thought of the age of the machines and didn't realize how old friends detectors were. Mine have been serviced and upgraded even with continued use and never had any trouble with them. Even with six machines in different locals I don't have to travel with them.
