Does the G2 have a depth indicator ?

Yes, in pinpoint mode only, as does the Gold Bug / SE / Pro / DP.
 
They also have a signal strength graph that can be used as a depth guide in disc mode.............

Yes, the trick to that is working out how deep in inches for each bar, and that all depends on the size of the object. The bigger the object, the more signal is detected.
