My main focus is on local detecting. I live and work near some great nugget hunting areas. And people dump coins everywhere it seems. And after playing with a newer Gold Bug in a park. I'm less concerned about it and 18-20kHz machines hitting on coins. But I do know a 3kHz coil will be handy in some instances. But getting in and around the likely spots has its merits. The 5" coil on the GB I tried weaseled into and next to some tight areas.
Besides, I figure there may be a need for an extra machine or two in the future. If I get back into prospecting, a "gold machine" will move up my list. If a friend's "meteor hunt" plans come through, I might want to find a deepseeker that sings on deep iron.
The thing is, I'm looking at getting a more serious machine than I've used in the past. And knowing some of my interests would benefit from a good "all-around" machine, that's the main criteria I'm jsing for my research. And the 70/705 are leading the pack.
